Events Operations AssistantGeorge Mason University's Office of University Branding seeks a part-time Events Operations Assistant responsible for the operational support of events in the Senior Administration building, Merten Hall. The University Events team supports Mason's mission by producing events that align with the strategic goals of the University and its students, faculty, alumni, and other stakeholders.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Position:The Events Operations Assistant will report directly to the Director of Event Production. This individual will be a team member charged with supporting events and meetings with audiences that include the University's senior management. The duties include but are not limited to: set-up and strike of event furnishings, basic audio visual support, on-site event support, and execution of events while ensuring that all logistical requirements are carried out according to the event plans.Required Qualifications:Ability to effectively communicate with clients on-site and have a good understanding of the functionality of event venues;Exhibits strong attention to detail and organizational skills;Demonstrates outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse audience;Demonstrates excellence in customer service;Ability to lift objects that are 50lbs and can move event furnishings;Ability to work 15-20 hours per week including evenings and weekends if needed; andMust be in good standing (driver's license and insurable) to operate state or personal vehicle(s); and must have reliable personal transportation. Must currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator's license that meets all of GMU's requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason's Vehicle Use Policy 1411 https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/. The Office of Risk Management reserves the right to review the driver's licenses and Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) of all candidates selected with employment contingent upon a favorable review.Preferred Qualifications:Pursuing a degree in the field of Event Management, Marketing, or other relevant fields; andExperience with scheduling database, event registration, and other University technological tools.
