Job Description
Position Summary
The Universal Banker for Georgia Community Bank provides outstanding service to our customers by assisting them with their banking needs, including processing transactions, opening new deposit accounts, and serving as first contact to resolve issues and complaints. Develops new customer relationships as well as enhance existing relationships. Demonstrates the ability to exercise independent judgment with close supervision. Refers complex or questionable transactions to Head Teller.
This Universal Banker position will be assigned to the Roberta branch but will be considered a floater between the Roberta and Reynolds branches.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties
Cash Management
· Handles a variety of transactions using own count money.
· Receives commercial and individual checking and savings deposits, verify cash and endorsements and issue receipts.
· Cashes checks and verifies endorsement, validity, and availability of funds.
· Pays savings withdrawals after verifying balance and signature.
· Accepts payments for loans and credit cards.
· Maintains accurate records of official checks and bonds.
· Works night drop bags and mail receipts and process all mail envelopes.
· Sells official checks
· Redeems bonds and bond coupons upon desk approval.
· Retains custody of operating cash.
· Prepares change orders for customers.
· Sorts, counts, and wraps currency and coins, verifies straps, maintains records of transactions, balance deposits and cash drawers.
Customer Service
· Attends to the needs of customers and prospective customers on banking matters.
· Recommends, explains, and opens new deposit accounts for customers.
· Maintains confidentiality of customer accounts.
· Handles customer complaints related to the GCB's services, explains service charges, and follows through on misdirected items or errors.
· Researches and resolves customer problems by serving as a liaison between the customer and the appropriate bank area.
· Answers inquiries and provides information on various accounts, loan balances, and other banking services.
· Maintains service and product knowledge.
· Provides notary public service.
· Knows the procedures for using the core computer system and accurately records data in the system.
· Serves customers in a friendly and professional manner to encourage satisfaction with service.
· Assists with answering phones.
· Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties to assist with the work of the department.
Compliance
· Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations.
· Adheres to limited transaction limits.
· Complies with all bank and personnel policies and procedures.
· Complete periodic training provided and/or required by GCB.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:Education
· A high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
· Previous teller experience is required.
· Previous customer service experience, including opening deposit accounts, is required.
Knowledge
· Possesses thorough knowledge of teller procedures or general bank operations.
· Understands bank policies and procedures.
· Maintains knowledge of bank products and services.
· Has the ability to effectively handle all routine and complex transactions at the branch.
· Keeps up to date on loan compliance policies and procedures.
Skills/Abilities
· Possesses general clerical and math skills.
· Presents a professional image in dealing with customers, interdepartmental, and external representatives.
· Performs duties with considerable speed and accuracy.
· Demonstrates the ability to positively persuade customers and to identify and satisfy their needs.
