Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. The Administrative Assistant to the President works with the Executive Assistant to provide high-level administrative support to the President of the College. This role involves managing a wide range of administrative and executive support tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the President’s office. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining effective communication and coordination within the college community and external stakeholders, contributing significantly to operational efficiency and public relations.
- Coordinate and manage the President’s schedule, including appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements.
- Serve as a point of contact for internal and external inquiries, emails, and phone calls addressed to the President’s office.
- Organize, coordinate, prepare agendas and transcribe meeting minutes.
- Collaborate with and assists the Executive Assistant to the President with special projects and events including logistical arrangements and initiatives as assigned by the President.
- Handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
- Maintain accurate and organized records, files, and documents related to the Office of the President.
- Draft, edit, and proofread confidential correspondence, and reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Teams).
- Proficiency in Google Applications- Google Drive, Google Sheets and Google Docs.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency in utilizing Zoom for virtual meetings, webinars, and collaboration.
- Typing speed of at least 40 WPM.
- Excellent organizational skills, time-management skills, and capacity to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-starter, adaptable, and flexible.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work effectively under pressure.
- Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools.
- Two or more years prior experience in an Executive support role
- Knowledge of higher education administration
- Familiarity with college policies and procedure
- Proficient in EVA and Chrome River applications
