What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Protection Engineer position at Ghafari?
Responsibilities
A successful candidate for the Fire Protection Engineer will do the following:
- Fire protection design/specification development for fire suppression systems, water supply/distribution systems, and life safety issues
- Task management activities associated with modifications involving fire suppression systems, and water supply/distribution systems
- Reviews of modifications to ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations
- Review design documents, construction documents, submittals prepared by others for compliance with applicable fire protection codes and standards
- Develop and review Fire Protection specifications, including design criteria
- Perform and check hydraulic calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of complex to difficult engineering complexity
- Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical or Architectural Engineering
License: Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred but not required
Experience:
A minimum of 7 years of experience including:
- Fire suppression systems
- Hydraulic sprinkler design and layout analysis programs
- Knowledge in wet and dry fire suppression systems is required
Revit experience is preferred
Knowledge with ProjectWise and/or BIM360 is a plus
