DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Help to Admissions Director to Maintain a desired census and waiting list, communicate with the community, speak before groups, solve family problems, complete, and maintain admission records and documents, and work with referral agencies, organizations, and institutions.


The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Continuing Education: Attend in-service education within the facility.


Education: At least a high school diploma, two or more years

of college preferred.


Experience: Health care, human services, public relations, social

services.


Job Knowledge: Community resources and needs; ability to handle

inquires and relate to prospective residents.

information and admission records; possess

judgment capabilities, ability to drive and conduct

tours of the facility.


Professional Membership: Preferred and encouraged to participate in community

civic organizations and associations.

Reports to: Admissions Director, Administrator


Other: Work well with people including staff, residents,

families and community; communicate the services

of the facility to prospective residents and to the community, speak before large and small groups, be personable and friendly; work independently.


Position Qualifications:

1. A genuine interest in the residents, families, and employees.

2. Public relations and community awareness skills.

3. Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of computer and business software.


Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Present centers in a positive manner to educate the public and the professional healthcare community in all aspects of the services provided.

2. Dedicate no less than 75% of working hours to direct interaction with the market community promoting services of the facility.

3. Maintain an 80% conversion rate from referrals to admissions. Achieve and maintain 90% or more occupancy at all centers or meet or exceed census budgets.

4. Maintain a good professional rapport with all staff members at the facility including members of Community Relations teams and others relevant to the position.

5. Respect the confidential nature of information obtained and to divulge such information only to authorized personnel.

6. Meet with Administrator daily to communicate on current admissions, discuss expectations and results of efforts made.

7. Maintain close personal contact with all referral sources.

8. Represent the center to the community in a professional manner and in a coordinated effort with the community relations team. (i.e., ongoing public speaking engagements, visits to hospital discharge planners, physicians, and insurance case mangers ;).

9. Coordinate and participate in the facility events as appropriate (i.e., health fairs, family dinner, etc.).

10. Participate with insurance contract negotiations and assist in pre-admission cost out analysis of managed care and PPS referrals as necessary.

11. Complete and provide census report daily to Corporate and Administrator and any other designated personnel.

12. Keep current on competitor activities.

13. Focus community relations on those segments of the community most likely to have a need for the services of the facility.

14. Maintains admission guidelines by writing, updating, and recommending changes to admission criteria, policies, and procedures.

15. Markets programs and facilities by preparing and providing informational brochures; writing and placing advertisements; answering questions; conducting tours.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


1. Interview applicants for admission and acquire necessary information and

documentation; complete required forms.

2. Handle financial arrangements related to admission.

3. Conduct tours of the facility and grounds for potential residents, families,

community, and representative from placement agencies and organizations.

4. Act as a liaison with discharge planners.

5. Attend and participate in in-service educational programs particularly those that relate to the psychosocial needs of the elderly, community resources, and admission requirements (Title XVII and Title XIX), etc.

6. Lecture before groups relative to health-care services available.

7. Participate in quality assurance programs.

8. Maintain professional confidentiality.

9. Follow-up on inquiries and maintain current and active waiting lists.

10. Develop long-range and short-range marketing plans, establishing goals and objectives.

11. Prepare in conjunctions with Residents’ Account Manager, daily and weekly reports, and monthly and annual summaries of admissions, discharges, sources, classifications, lengths of stay, etc.

12. Effective verbal and written communications skills.

13. Effective time management.

14. Travel and conduct one-on-one or other external community relations activities.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


1. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.

2. Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.

3. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

4. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be met.

5. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with resident, personnel, and support agencies.

6. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.

7. Must be able to relate and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile people within the facility.
