Fixed Wireless Tower Technician
About GigFire:
GigFire was founded in 2011 with the goal of bringing reliable, affordable broadband to rural areas. We've since expanded our service to include non-rural areas offering service that is performance comparable to fiber/cable at competitive rates.We now have over 2300 tower sites in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin covering over 50,000 square miles.
Job Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older and have a valid driver license.
- One (1) year relevant experience preferred “not required”.
- Must be able to demonstrate attention to accuracy on all duties and responsibilities.
- Must be able to climb ladders, elevated structures of all types and perform job duties from high places such as cell towers, water towers, grain legs.
- Must be able to carry at least 75 pounds.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must have basic mathematics and troubleshooting skills to perform duties.
- Must be able to operate appropriate computer and test equipment associated with installation.
- Must have the ability to operate hand tools including but not limited to step and extension ladders, electric drills, hammers, wrenches, and screwdriver.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening test and a criminal background check.
- Must be able and willing to work in all types of weather including but not limited to hot, cold, rain, snow, etc
Job Duties:
- Install and maintain wireless gear on elevated structures such as Cell Towers, Grain Legs and Water Towers.
- Climb towers to access components, using provided safety equipment.
- Perform maintenance or repair work on existing tower equipment, using hand or power tools.
- Lift equipment into position, using rigging tools or equipment, such as gin poles.
- Run appropriate power, ground, fiber and Cat 5.
- Update account notes and pictures from mobile devices.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
- Plan, prioritize and organize duties and responsibilities.
- Attend in-service training, conferences and meetings, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Driving company vehicles to job sites.
Additional information:
All new hires will receive on the job site training for 3 months.
