Lifeguard for Camp Ledgewood
Compensation: $475 per week
Dates: June 9 to August 6, 2024
The Lifeguard will act as Lifeguard at both pool and lakefront. They will teach swimming & small craft skills, maintain pool, shower house and lake front. Current lifeguard certification and CPR-PR is required. A certification class will be offered at no charge for our new Lifeguards.
Major Accountabilities
- Serves as lifeguard during free swims
- Serves as Unit Counselor when not needed at waterfront
- Teaches water safety
- Participates in the general camp programs
- Shares responsibility for night duty in the units as needed
- Works in unit and camp programs when not on duty on the waterfront or taking allowed free time
- Shares responsibility for pool and equipment maintenance
- Reports all incidents/accidents to supervisor immediately
- Responsible for completing and returning all records to the supervisor
- Assist Camp Director in evaluating the current season staff and help make recommendations for next season
- Maintains Girl Scouts of the United States of America, Girl Scouts of North East Ohio, and the American Camp Association standards at all times
- As a member of Girl Scouts of the United States of America, ensure that diversity and pluralism is embraced and incorporated into the work
- Performs other duties as assigned to promote the successful implementation of Girl Scouts of North East Ohio’s goals/objectives
- Responsible for the welfare, safety, and cleanliness of each individual and camper in unit. Follows and enforces all recommended health guidelines, including handwashing and cleaning/sanitizing as needed.
Requirements
-Minimum age 16
-Hold current certifications in CPR and first aid for lifeguards (certification class will be offered at no charge)
-Current lifeguard or swim instructor certification as well as current CPR and first aid for lifeguards from a nationally recognized body
-Demonstrated ability to successfully handle conflict resolution at all levels with a variety of people, including external customers
-Ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain confidentiality
-Ability to communicate the written and spoken word with tact, diplomacy, and/or authority when necessary
-Well disciplined, able to meet deadlines
-Self-starter
-Able to work under pressure of many priorities and deadlines
-Ability to work well as a part of a team
-Knowledge of the Girl Scout program preferred
-Ability to meet schedule requirements, including flexible work week, early hours, nights, and weekends
-Acts with enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, flexibility and self-control
