The Girl Scout mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Behind every Girl Scout and volunteer is a team of local staff ready to help them earn that next badge, embark on a camping adventure, or organize an impactful service project.
We are Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ) serving girls in grades K-12 in Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and Northern Warren counties. We bring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to 18,000 girls and 10,000 adult members.
We are looking for a Development and Special Events Manager, who under the supervision of the Director of Development will plan, coordinate and manage the execution of fundraising events and individual giving initiatives including the Women of Achievement Gala, small annual fundraisers, and other annual donor appeals to inspire fundraising support for Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey .
This is a hybrid role, with two days in the office, three days working from home. Additional in-person days may be required, including going to off site locations.
Essential Duties include but are not limited to
Fundraising Event Management:
· Manage donor recognition and fundraising events from planning to execution. Provide key management for annual fundraising gala, Women of Achievement, including event planning, volunteer management, execution of goals and budget management in cooperation with Fund Development and Marketing teams.
· Works across all aspects of event planning and execution and across myriad of internal stakeholders, executive leadership and board, demonstrating command of situation even in most challenging of operating environments.
· Manage online and in-person silent auction and event ad journal through the full cycle including procuring auction items with event committee; managing auction website and associated processes; coordinating auction closing, notifying winners, and coordinating item pickup and distribution; and soliciting and securing journal advertisements.
· Work closely with Executive Associate of Fund Development on event registration and other “day-of” event logistics.
· Manage vendor RFP's, negotiations and contracting for venues and services. Establish and manage relationships with event vendors such as venues, AV, security, etc.
· Build logistical plans to ensure successful attendee experience.
· Responsible for recruiting, training, and managing all fundraising event committee and day-of event staff volunteers.
Annual Appeals and Donor-Focused Communication:
· Assist in the coordination and planning of individual giving appeals including camp, lapsed donor, end of year, and other small annual appeals.
· Suggest and execute new annual donor engagement and fundraising initiatives as needed.
· Work in coordination with the Marketing team in planning and creating Fund Development-specific social media content and email campaigns and communications.
Project Management:
· Develop and implement project plans, including defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.
· Coordinate project activities and ensure that all tasks are completed on time and within budget.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify project requirements and resources needed.
· Monitor project progress, track milestones, and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
· Factor in risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential issues.
Other Duties as assigned:
Perform other duties as assigned. As is the case with all our roles at the GSNNJ council, we are a small and passionate team of lifelong learners who jump in to support our staff across departments. As opportunities present, we expect our staff at all levels to participate in organizational initiatives and support our mission of serving girls. All staff are required to promote and assist with council-wide programs, activities and public relations.
Requirements
· Knowledge and proven experience in event planning and management.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Experience working with social media and email marketing.
· Effective use of language, creativity, and commitment.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Able to work effectively and achieve goals both individually and as part of a team.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office package including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
· Proficiency with fundraising databases and/or similar technology.
· Excellent project management skills.
· Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
· Ability to problem solve creatively.
· Ability to work independently.
· Ability to meet strict deadlines and set priorities.

Salary : $60,000 - $62,000
