Overview
Maximize the sale of supplier brands to the trade and consumer through effective territory planning, selling, merchandising and communicating that permits achievement of company and supplier objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive brand success via leadership selling against trade channels and actively supporting the selling efforts of sales reps, district managers, and key account managers
- Monitor field implementation and execution of programs for assigned brands to ensure product pricing and promotion
- Regularly interact with field management for updating programming and brand priorities, brand standards and best practices leading to successful execution in the market
- Provide detailed tracking reports of wholesaler performance against agreed-to supplier objectives
- Develop and enhance strong supplier/distributor relationships.
- Responsible for meeting or exceeding brand case and account sold goals as well as gross margin goals.
- Function as the liaison between the supplier and the sales force.
- Communicate market conditions to the supplier (trend and brand issues).
- Manage supplier inventory
- Manage supplier accounts receivable
- Understand the specific needs and marketing strategies of the key accounts.
- Plan special events designed to garner brand awareness among consumers and support supplier sales objectives.
- Work flexible hours which include early morning, evenings, and/or weekends.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- 5 years of industry related sales experience within the distribution, hospitality or supplier community
- Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license and ability to obtain and maintain auto liability insurance in accordance with state laws
- Established successful sales history with the ability to coach and develop staff;
- Ability to exercise independent judgment to handle a variety of duties;
- Strong leadership, motivation and persuasive commination skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft office products;
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Preferred Qualifications
- Comprehensive understanding of wine and spirits to include regions/varietals, product/food pairing techniques, basic production, and service
- Ability to adapt and can assist a variety of internal customer groups and varying personality types
- Strong negotiation skills; demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit
- Ability to create and sell innovative ideas
- Goal oriented, focused, and assertive individual who needs little direction or supervision
Physical Demands
- Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or adding machine
- Physical demands with activity or condition may include occasional to rare amount of time include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
- May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 40 lbs.
