What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tool & Die Maker position at Glidewell Dental?
Essential Functions:
- Performs routine maintenance and troubleshoots machines.
- Examines previously ran dies for wear and replacement of forms that may need to be sharpened or replaced before the next production run.
- Troubleshoots and resolves any quality deviations.
- Completes and maintains paperwork for parts.
- Reads blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
- Sets up and operates conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, EDM wire, EDM sinker, milling machines, or grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
- Visualizes and computes dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications.
- Inspects finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
- Fits and assembles parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
- Conducts test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications. Adjusts as necessary.
- Performs other related duties and projects as business needs require at direction of management.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in tool and die making.
Pay Range: $27-$45/hour
