Line Cook Job Summary:
In this position, your principal goal will be to repeatedly and consistently prepare meals according to our standard recipes. To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and multi-tasking skills. Ultimately, you will play an essential role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and restaurant growth.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure the preparation station and the kitchen is set up and stocked.
- Prepare simple components of each dish on the menu by chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and preparing sauces.
- Make sure food preparation and storage areas meet health and safety standards.
- Stock inventory and supplies.
- Cook menu items with the support of the kitchen staff.
- Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broiler , ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
- Know and complies consistently with our kitchen standards as it relates to recipes, portion sizes, cooking methods, quality, kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
- Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure smooth service period.
- Handles, stores and rotates all products properly.
- Assist in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.
- Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assists others in closing the kitchen.
- Attends all scheduled employee meetings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or manager-on-duty.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to follow directions.
- Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and be a cooperative and efficient team-player.
Education and Experience:
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a kitchen with at least 6 months experience in a similar role.
- Certificate in Culinary Arts or related field or in-depth knowledge of restaurant best practices and cooking methods a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
