OVERVIEW

The VP of Finance is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s finance and accounting, and corresponding technology functions operate efficiently and effectively and align with strategic goals.
JOB SUMMARY
The VP of Finance oversees the finance and accounting functions of the organization. She/he/they ensures the Finance and Administration team’s workflow, resources, and systems are integrated with and supportive of organizational vision and strategic goals. She/he/they provides support to the Board of Directors’ Finance, Investment, and Audit committees. The VP of Finance is a member of the Executive Team and works collaboratively with other Executive Team members. She/he/they provides senior counsel to the Executive Team and senior management on issues related to the Finance & Administration team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Senior Management (30%)
- Provides senior counsel to the CEO and Executive Team on all financial issues
- Provide analysis and recommendations on strategies to ensure financial success of the organization
- Oversees the development and implementation of financial policies, systems, and procedures that will support organizational stability and growth in finance functions
- Continuously evaluates and improves the staffing model, systems, workflows, and processes to ensure effectiveness, cost efficiency, and legal compliance
- Supervises and develops Finance & Administration staff
Finance and Accounting (60%)
Provides leadership of the finance and accounting functions, including:
- Stewardship over financial resources
- Develops and manages the organizational budgeting processes
- Oversee the allocation and distribution of financial resources
- Production of timely organizational financial reporting
- Presenting financial analysis and reporting to the CEO, Executive Team, the Board of Directors, staff, funders, and other constituents
- As an Officer of the organization, act as the primary signatory for disbursements, contracts, tax documents, etc.
- Serving as staff liaison to the Finance, Investment, and Audit Committees of the Board of Directors
- In conjunction with the Investment Committee and outside investment managers, oversee the organization’s investment portfolio
- Overseeing legal compliance and regulatory filings for Global Fund for
Women’s U.S. and foreign entities
- Ensure use of innovative technologies to support Global Fund for Women’s
strategic finance goals
- Implement and leverage technologies to support efficient and effective collaboration across the organization
- Partner with CHRO to manage organizational risk
- Oversight of financials for Fiscal Sponsees.
Other Activities (10%)
Participates in cross-functional work-teams and other teams as appropriate
- Follows policies and procedures
- Handles ad hoc projects
- Represents the Finance & Administration team in a positive way within the organization and in interactions with individuals and organizations external to the Global Fund for Women
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Internal Relationships
- Direct supervision of members of the Finance & Administration team
- Staff liaison to the Finance, Investment, and Audit Committees of the Board
- Constructive and effective daily working relationships with all teams
- Providing excellent customer service to organizations we are fiscal sponsors for.
External Relationships
As a Global Fund for Women representative, the VP of Finance interacts closely with representatives of various financial institutions, external auditors, vendors, donors, and grantees.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Advanced knowledge of nonprofit financial management and reporting
- High level of discretion and confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present financial information effectively to Board of Directors, management, non-finance staff and external constituents
- Knowledge of international grantmaking
- Ability to analyze systems and create new strategies for improving operational systems
- Ability to work well with diverse groups of people
- Strong management skills, including training, mentoring, managing, and supervising staff
- Commitment to promoting the Global Fund for Women’s mission and
goals, including its commitment to diversity and to women’s human rights
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors (Masters preferred) in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline
- CPA or CMA designation highly preferred
- Minimum ten years senior Finance/Accounting roles preferably within the nonprofit sector
- Excellent knowledge of accounting software (Intacct preferred)
- Knowledge of SaleForce preferred
- Strong experience in Finance Planning and Analysis
The salary range reflects the San Francisco Bay Area salary scales and will be adjusted based on city, state, and/or country of the candidate so that we can ensure internal equity.
