What does it mean to be a Help Desk Technician with GLS?
Tremendous opportunity to influence the growth of an outstanding company – GLS is seeking a top tier talent to serve as a Help Desk Technician. The role will report to the Director, Service Desk, and operate from our Greenville office. As a member of the Information Technology team, the Help Desk Technician provides company-wide technical support. In this position, the Help Desk Technician assists with a variety of software, hardware and networking issues and is responsible for delivering the highest level of customer service.
How will you drive value within the organization?
- Evaluate, prioritize, and resolve incoming requests for assistance from users
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve software and hardware problems, networking, and other computer related technologies and advise users on appropriate action
- Monitor, identify, and report network connectivity issues to ensure associates and clients are able to communicate and access company platforms
- Log and track calls using a problem management database, and maintain historical records and related problem documentation
- Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention
- Use system deployment images and software deployment packages
- Serve as a contributing member of project teams
- Adhere to all Service Desk policies, standards, and procedures
- Maintain and document company technical inventory
- Participate in special projects as needed
- Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by management
What should you already know to be successful in this role?
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or combination of experience, associate's degree, and certifications would be considered
- Working knowledge of networking protocols required
- Working knowledge of hardware, software, network, OS interaction required
- Microsoft Technology Associate or CompTIA A certification preferred
- Minimum of 1 (one) year experience in a related field preferred
- Experience with Office 365 preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
- Skilled in providing customer service to technical and non-technical customers
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials in a professional manner
- Capacity to quickly learn and adapt to rapid changes in the technical environment
- Possess interpersonal skills: interact at all levels within the organization; build cross-functional partnerships across the business
- Commitment to exemplifying the organizational core values and key competencies
Employment Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Constantly operate a computer and other standard office equipment
- Talk and hear to exchange accurate information
- Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Stoop and kneel to install computer equipment
