JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for ensuring that the products made are produced efficiently, cost effectively, to the right quality and ready for delivery to customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops / modifies master production schedule based on business plan and / or forecast for various products within a business unit. Maintains meeting notes and performance measurement documentation.
- Establishes and monitors capacity and inventory levels based on business plan and/or forecasts. Reviews material and supply procurements for all manufacturing points. Monitors, maintains and implements all balance stock, design or marketing changes related to forecasted product. Determines order quantities and safety stocks to optimize customer service and inventory turns.
- Plans, schedules and monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required materials. Provides visibility of potential supply constraints and balances through the Master Schedule, customer demand and factory supply.
- Works with Manufacturing, Sales/Customer Service, Engineering and Materials to insure that capacity requirements are satisfied, work orders are released and production schedules are in accordance with customer orders and inventory requirements.
- Provide input to the Supervisors / Operations Manager with regard to production schedules, customer requirements, engineering changes, performance measures and inventory management strategies.
- Assists in the deployment and execution of material planning systems. Works with inter-functions teams to create and implement changes in process and systems related to planning and scheduling.
- Maintains inventory and item master records as appropriate to support material initiatives.
- Measures performance of forecasts, production fill rates and inventory issues.
- Quarterly Excess and Obsolete inventory disposal.
- Asset management responsibility for all products within the scope of assigned product lines.
COMPETENCIES:
- Thorough understanding/working knowledge of MRP/ERP.
- Ability to make decisions while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of issues; ability to use reason, even when dealing with emotional topics.
- Ability to examine and interpret a wide variety of data /information and make recommendations or decisions.
- Able to handle several projects simultaneously.
- Considers impact of decisions in other areas of the organization.
- A high level of energy, flexibility and judgment is needed in this changing environment.
- Experience with a wide variety of commodities and services.
