What are the responsibilities and job description for the Delivery Helper position at GMS Recruiting Standard?
A Delivery Helper is responsible for the loading and unloading of building materials and the placement of building materials on a jobsite based on a customer’s request. Delivery Helper could operate a forklift and must interact with co-workers, job foremen, customers, and crew leaders on jobsites. Safety is critical so Delivery Helper must be aware of all safety issues and committed to making their work environment and that of their co-workers equally safe. Some Delivery Helpers will be required to possess and maintain a Class A driver’s license along with other certifications (forklift, rigging, flagging).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
- Decipher and expedite customer’s needs/wants in terms of placement of materials.
- Load and stock building materials in a safe and efficient matter.
- Delivery Helpers are responsible for the safe and professional operation of WBMC equipment and adherence to stocking operations.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and can calmly and effectively problem solve in a group setting.
- Delivery Helpers must have the ability to make sound decisions, be team players, and set a professional example.
- Delivery Helpers are responsible for the loading/unloading and maintenance of equipment needed for different jobs.
- Perform pre-inspection and post-inspection on all jobsites, equipment and vehicles needed to complete the tasks.
- Delivery Helpers are required to perform jobsite hazard analysis BEFORE starting any job (must be done daily).
- Perform other tasks as needed.

- All Delivery Helpers are required to wear and maintain PPE while on jobsite and as required in the yard.

- Stocking superintendents and other operations management
QUALIFICATIONS
- An ability to perform physical labor in extreme conditions.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and take direction.
- Ability to acquire and maintain Class A driver’s license and forklift certification (Crew Leaders and Class A drivers only).
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to lift a minimum of 90 lbs. (individually) or 110 lbs. (with a partner).
- Ability to work in harsh conditions and/or weather.
- Must be able to walk/ stand for at least 8/hours a day.
- Not afraid of heights and ability to climb ladders.
- Be able to push a minimum of a ½ a ton
