What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal / Contract Manager position at GoCardless?
The role
You will be an integral part of a collaborative and rapidly growing legal team at a fast-paced fintech scale-up. As a member of a busy legal team you will also contribute to team-wide initiatives and work with people from across our geos (including UK, France, Latvia, US and ANZ).
What excites you:
- Reviewing supplier contracts, using GoCardless’ playbook as the standard, extracting and recording key information from contracts
- Updating playbooks, process documents and contract templates where required, reviewing forms used to onboard suppliers and highlighting key risk areas
- Conducting risk reviews of contracts and escalating internally as required, supporting the drafting of new clauses and terms
- Being the first port of call for a broad range of contract manager/paralegal issues from all business functions of a high-growth fintech scale-up
- Managing the inflow of legal matters by answering basic queries from across the business and involving other members of the legal team as appropriate
- Reviewing and negotiating NDAs and other ancillary legal documents
- Assisting with building out and maintaining self-help tools, playbooks and guides for the legal team and for the wider business
- Spotting opportunities that allow us to deliver contract management/paralegal/legal executive services in a more efficient and scalable way, and building new processes
- Helping members of the team with ad-hoc projects such as legal research, product launches, corporate projects and IP matters
- Taking charge of document management
What excites us:
- You have experience working as Paralegal/ Contract manager in a leading commercial law firm or in-house
- You have a good understanding of the legal principles as well as the local law, experience in drafting agreements, corporate documents would be considered as an advantage
- You are used to working independently and proactively on a variety of projects simultaneously, and can effectively prioritise, you are not afraid to think out of the box and adopt decisions when needed
- You are easy to work with, and want to work in a fun, fast-growing but demanding young company
- Your communication skills are first class
- You want to make it easier for the legal team to provide advice with your support
- You are tech-savvy and have experience with legal tech tools and contract management systems
Bonus points if:
- You have experience in a tech start-up or regulated environment
- You have demonstrated experience of suggesting and implementing process improvements
The salary range (gross): €2500 - €2700
