We are growing rapidly and are currently seeking passionate, professional Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners who are dual certified as a Family nurse Practitioner to join our team and company.
Specifically, we are interested in connecting with great folks who currently reside in or are licensed in Kansas, and are completely comfortable with seeing patients in office and Telehealth.
Physicians Assistant or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner plays a crucial role in providing accessible and convenient care for behavioral health and non-behavioral health programs in person and via telehealth.
The GVM care model leverages Nurse Practitioners to reduce barriers and expand access to health care by working in partnership with other clinicians to diagnose, manage, and provide medication management and outpatient treatments for behavioral and non-behavioral health needs.
This professional performs patient evaluation, assessment, prescribes medication, facilitates medication management and treatment of patients that do not require significant ancillary/social support following all appropriate statutes, regulations, and protocols.
This role is scheduled during regular business hours Monday through Friday only with an expected average patient census of 20 - 30 completed patient visits daily/100 completed patient visits weekly with patient ages ranging across the lifespan.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide patient support by prescribing, monitoring, and supporting treatment plans abiding by all appropriate statutes, regulations, and protocols
- Conduct patient visits in person and/or via telehealth, including medication management, psychiatric evaluations, and psychotherapy
- Ability to access and input patient information via EHR systems
- Assess existing psychiatric disorders; diagnose and formulate a plan of care, write referrals, start and renew medications, order diagnostics, and manage results
- Familiar and supportive of Neurofeedback Therapy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Support the patient’s management of chronic diseases through management of their behavioral health conditions
- Refer higher acuity patients to specialized care based on established guidelines to ensure the quality of care and the best outcome for patients
- Maintain medical records and high-quality clinical documentation
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and other health specialists
- Provide health services, education, and medication management in an empathetic and judgment-free manner
- Order laboratory tests as required and interpret and explain test results to patients
- Provide patient education regarding medications, risks, benefits, and reasonable outcome expectations
- Communicate with patients and families and engage in follow-up as necessary
Experience, Education, and Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university required
- Two (2) years of experience practicing outside of post-training preferred with experience in Primary Care or Mental Health related field
- Certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner
- Active license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) by the State in which performing services required, specifically seeking currently in Kansas
- Strong preference for an active license in multiple states (at least five)
- Current DEA license
- Ability to deliver care via telehealth
- Current BLS Certification
- Valid Driver’s License and Insurance
- Must be knowledgeable and comfortable with prescribing controlled substances for management of behavioral health conditions
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, with specific experience with Kareo, preferred
