What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Technician position at Golden West?
General Summary:
Receives and processes used equipment from customers. Ensures used equipment is in the proper working condition and cleaned before being recycled back into inventory. Receives and distributes materials, supplies and equipment as authorized and maintains inventories and internal controls. Prepares outgoing parcels for shipping. Conducts inventory counts and assists with accounting functions as required.
Essential Job Functions:
- Follow inventory processing procedures for used equipment received from customers including, but not limited to, using software and barcode scanners to acknowledge receipt of equipment.
- Perform physical inspection of received equipment to assess cleanliness and damage. Ensure recycled equipment is in the proper physical condition before being recycled back into inventory.
- Perform factory reset on equipment received from customers by using a prescribed combination of hardware and software sequences.
- Charge out and/or transfer materials through eLations Financials.
- Tracks distribution of materials and ensures timely delivery to appropriate departments.
- Maintains inventories and internal controls by tracking and organizing inventory stock.
- Receives shipments and assists with unloading trucks.
- Checks in merchandise, matches merchandise to purchase orders, and/or lets appropriate department know of delivery.
- Performs other stockroom maintenance duties.
- Reads service orders to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed, or shipped. Marks materials with identifying information.
- Picks up daily parcels from the USPS and prepares outgoing parcels for shipping through various shipping vendors.
- Assists with scheduled inventory audits in accordance with Accounting and Operational requirements.
- May recommend inventory and material distribution changes required to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Assists technicians with stocking vans and checking parts out for installation.

- Knowledge of general office procedures including basic bookkeeping practices.
- Knowledge of Contact Management systems; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to understand and organize purchase receipts, projects, packing slips and transfer sheets.
- Ability to operate various office equipment such as personal computer, various software programs, and telephone systems.
- Ability to be diplomatic and tactful in given situations.
- Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to make sound decisions using information at hand.
- Ability to work safely and independently.
- Ability to understand and verify requisitions, packing slips, invoices, and other records.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to back up company vehicle and attach to a trailer.
- Ability to obtain certification to operate forklift and telehandler safely.
- Must live in the Golden West Exchange.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum of two years of experience in warehouse, inventory controls, shipping and receiving or related experience.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
Must have, or be able to obtain, and maintain a valid South Dakota driver’s license, have an excellent driving record and be insurable under the Company’s insurance policy.

Working Conditions:
