Key Accountabilities

  • Appropriately communicates with resident and/or resident families.
  • Develops and maintains activities and social programming that is reflective of the residents’ needs and interests.
  • Leads activity groups, including exercise classes.
  • Must be compassionate and work with tact and ethical awareness.
  • Reports any resident changes to the Nursing staff.
  • Responsible to meet requirements of state, federal, and other regulatory entities as they relate to activities.
  • Supervises the activities programming provided by all personnel.
  • Assists residents with developing interpersonal relationships, socializing effectively, and developing the confidence needed to participate in group activities.
  • Assists other departments with special events and family functions.
  • Promotes independence with residents by offering choices and fostering self-help skills.
  • Maintains and reports proper documentation of efforts as requested.
  • May be asked to create budgetary standards for all activities within the community.
  • Monitors and adheres to budgets as established by the Executive Director.
  • Orders and maintains supplies needed for activities.

Requirements

  • Follows all policies and procedures
  • Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must be able to relate information concerning residents’ condition.
  • Must have a valid non-restricted driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant action.
  • Must receive a "not disqualified" criminal background result and may not be on the OIG exclusions list.
  • Stays up to date on all required training.
  • Understands and adheres to the Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy. Is familiar with the Resident’s Bill of Rights and adheres to it.
  • Complies with state and Federal HIPAA requirements.

Experience

Preferred
  • 2 year(s): At least 2 years of experience working with seniors.

Education

Preferred
  • High School or better
