THE POSITION
The Cashier works under the direct supervision of the Retail Store Manager is responsible for customer service, cash register sales, facility security and maintenance, greeting and assisting customers, bagging and wrapping merchandise, displaying merchandise, cleaning cash wrap area, counters, and front of store, hanging clothes, stocking shelves and rotating merchandise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets customers in a prompt, friendly and courteous manner and offers them assistance.
- Operates Agency POS to ensure accurate and efficient sales data, price, and information codes on merchandise.
- Ensures proper cash handling of all transactions including proper processing of coupons and discounts.
- Cleans front doors, counters and glass frequently, dusts cases, keeps front of store clean, returns shopping carts and baskets to appropriate areas, returns unsold merchandise to proper areas.
- Assists with promotions to include customer information, postings, special sign displays, etc.
- Stocks and maintains counter, showcases and cash/wraps in a neat and clean condition at all times.
- Cleans dressing rooms and re-hangs clothes as needed.
- Places apparel, wares, shoes, accessories, etc., onto sales floor in correct location and rotates merchandise from sales floor as needed.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Prior work experience in a retail environment preferred.

- Ability to operate Agency POS.
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members, customers and donors.

THE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of standing.
- Must be able to stand, reach, grasp, twist, and bend on a frequent basis.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, carry or otherwise move up to ten (10) pounds with no support regularly when performing cash handling duties.
- When business needs require performance of sales floor tasks, must be able to lift, push, pull, carry or otherwise move up to twenty-five (25) pounds with no support regularly.
