What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wellness Coordinator position at Gordon College?
Function: Under the direction of the Wellness Director of the Center for Balance, Mobility and Wellness, assist in developing and implementing wellness programs that help CBMW members as well as community members of the North Shore improve their overall health and fitness, become/remain independent and achieve their wellness goals.
Description of Duties and Tasks:
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Motivate and assist members in all CBMW wellness programs to achieve their fitness related goals.
2. Actively promote personal training services, CBMW membership programs and class options throughout daily interactions.
3. Lead facility tours for prospective members as needed/required.
4. Assist Wellness Director with administrative tasks as directed, including billing, scheduling, member stewardship, member engagement, recruitment and satisfaction tasks/initiatives membership reports and marketing.
5. Communicate effectively with office staff and our physical therapy team, including the Center’s Clinical Manager, Clinical Director and all therapists.
6. Assist wellness leadership staff in recruiting and training student volunteers and interns with the goal of providing an impactful learning environment.
7. Assist in the creation, development marketing of new programming, including instruction of new/existing wellness classes.
8. Perform personal training/create training programs, design and instruct group wellness classes; maintain a regular roster of personal training clients and group wellness classes both on/off site and virtually, totaling at least 20 hours per week for this service type.
9. Build relationships with CBMW members, patients, students, clients, program participants, guests, community members and organizations.
10. In collaboration with the Wellness Director, design cutting edge, evidence-based wellness classes and training programs for the 50 population.
11. As communicated by the Wellness Director, provide general administrative support for Specialty Class programs including organization and update of schedules-hard copy, on social media and through EZ Facility (or other database management platform (s)), assist in basic marketing endeavors and other group wellness class administrative support tasks.
12. Maintain professional competence and up to date knowledge in the field of health and wellness through nationally recognized CEC providers.
13. Maintain overall cleanliness and safety of the Center, including daily upkeep and general cleaning duties of the wellness floor and various workout areas, physical therapy treatment rooms, front office area, restrooms, and outside spaces.
14. All other duties as directed or required for the overall success of the department and organization.

1. 3. Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in related field such as exercise physiology, kinesiology movement science or possess equivalent experience with professional certification(s) and possess an NCCA accredited, nationally recognized personal trainer certification.
4. Must have at least 1500 hours of practical training/wellness programming experience.
5. Possess ability and desire to work in a collaborative manner and to be open to input and feedback from colleagues.
6. Possess effective and clear communication skills, particularly with staff team members and in daily interaction with members and participants.
7. Must be able to manage time wisely, must be highly organized and basically fluent with popular social media outlets and electronic communication.
8. General/basic knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems such as MindBody, EZ Facility or the like.
9. Certified in CPR.

Our Strength for Life Fitness/wellness program and group wellness specialty classes deliver a wide range of wellness solutions for those 50 and over. Many of our clients, members and participants come to us with underlying and/or chronic medical issues. Experience in a healthcare setting or physical therapy setting will be helpful to the candidate, as our wellness program and group wellness specialty classes fall into a medically based model.
