The Fleet Lead provides assistance with supervising Gordon Food Service garage personnel and assists in the management and coordination of the daily operation of garage services. Hours: Sunday - Thursday 2:30 pm - 10:30 pm Location: Kenosha, WI Essential Job Functions Assigns daily vehicle inspections to the Fleet Mechanics and schedules annual DOT inspections. Approves the fleet mechanics parts, tire and tow truck orders for equipment breakdowns. Reports to the Fleet Manager major repairs to equipment to be serviced by outside vendors and on the general condition of fleet. Approves the release of the fleet mechanics serviced tractor trailer equipment for utilization. Perform employee time and attendance and incentive tracking record keeping, analyzes inventory, and conduct meeting preparation. Coaches employee job technique and safety requirements. Serves as subject matter expert during meetings on safety and/or mechanical and technical issues. Repairs power, trailer and Thermo King equipment as needed. Assists with garage employee management including participation in interviewing, hiring, training, and retention of staff, as well as conducting performance monitoring of staff, initiating follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with the Fleet Manager. Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource to them. Routinely monitors expenditures to ensure adherence to the garages annual budget. Supports other GFS entities when needed by traveling to the location to provided hands on training or other support needed for min two week period. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Two to four years previous truck or heavy equipment mechanical experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. High School Diploma required. Must have good written and verbal communication, problem solving, decision making, customer service and interpersonal skills to represent the department and speak at minor functions. Must have good time management and organizational skills. Must be courteous, motivated, flexible, open minded, a visionary, enthusiastic, encouraging, and able to delegate responsibilities. Must have a basic understanding of DOT, OSHA, EEOC, and BWC regulatory agencies and applicable laws. Must have working knowledge of fleet management systems. Must be able to operate all equipment and have appropriate operator’s license. Must have forklift training. Must be able to work independently or within a team environment and be able to work a ten hour day. Knowledge of all forklift, truck, trailer and refrigeration components as well as hydraulic presses, freon recovery machines, all troubleshooting test equipment, power drills, saws and hydraulic jacks. Ability to operate computerized diagnostic equipment, handheld devices and personal computers. Ability to use a variety of power and machine tools, such as pneumatic tools, lathes, grinding machines, welding equipment and cutting torches. Hand tools, including pliers, socket and ratchets, and screwdrivers, are commonly used. Must pass PIV certification training and safely operate PIV.
