Position Overview:
Looking for an energetic individual who thrives on multi-tasking to be an integral part of the Human Resources Department. The Human Resource Coordinator provides assistance with and facilitates the human resource processes, including processing of payroll. This role assists with the administration of employee health and welfare plans and acts as liaison between employees and insurance providers. This position resolves benefits-related problems and ensures effective use of plans and positive employee relations. This role provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry. This position will be on the front line of maintaining the positive, team-oriented culture.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and execute all processes relating to timekeeping and payroll
  • Maintain the HRIS system
  • Handles all aspects of FMLA and other types of leave
  • Administers, and creates excitement around, the company's wellness program
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions
  • Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files. Submits online investigation requests, facilitates new-employee background checks and coordinates the onboarding process
  • Reconciles benefits statements
  • Conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action
  • Assists in the administration of health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions
  • Assists with processing of terminations
  • Assists with the preparation of the performance review process
  • Assists with recruitment and interview process, including scheduling and conducting interviews, tracking the status of candidates in HRIS and responding with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process
  • Assists the HR Manager and Safety Manager with employee programs including, but not limited to, Social Committee, Workers Compensation, and safety programs
  • Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by the HR manager
  • Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
  • Files documents into appropriate employee files
  • Assists or prepares correspondence as requested
  • Prepares new employee files
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Requires a minimum of two (2) years' experience in human resources, payroll, or a closely related field
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Associates Degree or higher in a related field is preferred
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, walk, reach, push, pull, grasp, read, write, talk and hear, to perform the essential functions of this job
Must also be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
