Grand Bazaar NYC is a social mission-based company. It is the largest, oldest, and most dynamic and diverse weekly curated market in New York City. It’s the market of New York City. Home to many local and talented artists, designers, craft makers, independent vintage and specialty dealers, and artisanal food entrepreneurs. Throughout the year it also organizes various special themed events and pop-ups. It’s the funding source for four neighborhood public schools, benefiting over 2,000 children, by donating 100% of its profits. Furthermore, it provides much needed affordable retail space to independent merchants selling one-of-a-kind, rare, and limited-edition goods. Grand Bazaar NYC is located on the Upper West Side and is open every Sunday, all year-round, indoors and outdoors, with up to 220 unique merchants. www.GrandBazaarNYC.org

Your Role:

The Marketing Coordinator role will be responsible for creating and executing marketing, events, and communication programs for the company. This includes copywriting, design, social media, PR, and assisting at the market and with special events. You will need to provide creative ideas, concepts, and follow-through to meet the creative standards and business objectives. You will be part of a team where everyone supports each other and where everyone has their own responsibilities.

You are a well-rounded marketing professional that is passionate about creating memorable stories and creative assets, unique event experiences, skillfully pitching, and effectively communicating with consumers and media professionals to drive business results. You must be disciplined, highly detailed oriented and organized, and have strong written and verbal communication skills.

You are Responsible for:

  • Working with the Executive Director and other team members to develop, plan and execute all marketing and communication programs across multiple channels, including general brand management, to promote Grand Bazaar, the market, pop-up events, and the website.
  • Delivering quality and timely execution and coordination of all required work.
  • Perform market research and analysis to determine the best course of action and to benchmark performances.
  • Writing engaging copy, creating compelling visual material (photo and video), and developing original stories for all channels.
  • Writing and distributing press releases, including following up.
  • Writing and building email campaigns, utilizing A/B testing, and analyzing performances.
  • Engaging with consumers and merchants, including responding to direct messages and comments on the internet and via email.
  • Manage and monitor social media presence and actively post content and engage with the users.
  • Supporting website development and updates.
  • Collecting data for analytics on weekly and monthly basis for reports.
  • Assisting with creating, managing, and marketing events and pop-up markets.
  • Supporting the Vendor & Market Manager with merchant curation and management, and at the markets/events with set-up, load-out, market management, and collecting payments.
  • Supporting the Executive Director with all aspects of sponsorship activities, including research, creating proposals, outreach, account management, production, on-site management, and reporting.
  • Manage budgets including tracking and reporting constantly through pre-planning, on-site changes, post-event reconciliation, and process invoices for payment in a timely manner.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience in marketing, communication, PR, or event management.
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Must be a creative thinker that is able to manage multiple projects and balance priorities, including non-negotiable deadlines.
  • Must be a disciplined self-starter able to work with little supervision, is people-oriented with strong follow-through capabilities and a keen desire to create something special.
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with creative software and applications for photo and video editing.
  • Experience with social media management and tools.
  • We are a small team therefore everyone is very hands-on; hence you must have an entrepreneurial spirit, be able to work independently and handle many different tasks in a team-originated environment.

  • When needed, must be able to perform some physical work, e.g., carry and set-up tables, chairs, etc.
  • Ability to work weekends.

You will work during the week from our office (28th St. & 7th Ave.) and Sundays (weekends) at the market, or at different event locations. Will be reporting to the Executive Director of Grand Bazaar NYC.

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000. Annual end of year discretionary bonus. Benefits eligibility of 401k with company contribution.
