Responsibilities
The Food Service Operator assists the department in the clerical aspects of preparation for the patient meal service through accurate menu processing. The Food Service Operator assists patients with menu selection. The Food Service Operator's essential functions may include:

- Solving customer problems, treating customer with dignity and respect, acknowledging customer and responding quickly to customer needs.
- Answering questions within your scope of practice and referring other questions to the appropriate person.
- Processing Room Service customer orders, including patient/family-initiated orders and those patients needing assistance. Assisting patients with telephone call-backs or personal visitation as needed, while ensuring adherence to all diet orders.
- Documenting number of meals served each day.
- Answering phone calls and processing fax orders for all food requests.
- Receiving and processing requests for diet changes via computer, fax or written format during downtime.
- Coordinating processing of Nourishment Orders and printing Nourishment Labels.
- Coordinating delivery of all tube feeding and oral supplement orders.
- Wrapping service ware for tray delivery.
- Responsible for following food safety and physical safety policies at all times, while utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) when required by management.
- Participating in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
- Reporting all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- Complying with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
- Attending training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.

Qualifications
EDUCATION:- High school diploma/GED required.
SKILLS:
- 6 months to 1 year of related experience or education demonstrating knowledge of the normal and modified diets and the Carbohydrate Counting and Protein Exchange Systems preferred.
