POSITION SUMMARY (Must live 1 Hours Drive from Aurora)
The Purchasing and Inventory Specialist will be part of the Inventory Team; with core functionalities focusing on the management of all Grane Rx Pharmacy(s) Inventory. The P&I Specialist’s main focus is the oversight of purchasing for all pharmacy locations, along with generating timely reports critical to inventory needs. This position will also review key metrics set forth by management and ensure purchasing habits coincide with Grane’s overall inventory objectives and goals. This position is also responsible for all Omnicell aspects, including adding new users, utilizations, and inventory. The P&I Specialist will facilitate inventory reports and send to the Operations Manager to ensure the each Coordinator completes. This position will require willingness to travel up to 15%. This position will have remote work, but can also be required to report to the pharmacy location.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
The Purchasing & Inventory Specialist will report to the immediate supervisor, Justin Snodgrass (Senior Operations Manager). The P&I Specialist will work directly with GRx Inventory Coordinators and Fulfillment technicians. They will have some contact with our customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Places daily inventory items order for all pharmacy locations
- Orders all ancillary supplies for each pharmacy (as needed)
- Ensures Cardinal and Surecost platforms are working as needed and updated timely.
- Generates report looking at upcoming expired inventory items for all pharmacy locations, transfers inventory items and works with coordinator to ship
- Evaluates RBC pre-book and space, proposes order
- Assists with Physical Inventory
- Coordinates all flu orders and make sure they are entered into pharmacy system, dispensed, and delivered
- Manages SimpleAccess inventory items, including but not limited to, utilization, optimization, audits, expired inventory items, Out of Stock, issues
- Manages all SimpleAccess requests, including adding new users, utilizations, service issues, and cabinet connectivity.
- Ensures ATP canister fills are scheduled and inventory items are ordered ahead of time so they can refill with correct quantity
- Maintains and creates reports critical to specific pharmacy needs. Ie., review of top ½ tabs used at each location and which should be stored and prepared.
- Generates CII report, reviews, sends to Staff Pharmacist to place CII order
- Reviews inventory of PharmLoc, all multiple drugs and returns/provides list of open bottles to OE so they can key and use up
- Generates report reviewing all canister meds, evaluates inventory items not on LTC contract and swaps
- Reviews Cardinal Source Opportunity report monthly and swaps NDCs for each pharmacy location
- Manages out of stock and short supply inventory items
- Adds new inventory items to pharmacy systems/compounds IV
- Generates reports for upcoming cycle fills
- Reviews multiple active NDCs in FrameworkLTC for each pharmacy location and makes any necessary edits
- Generates ATP Inventory Manager reports and performs maintenance and updates on inventory items
- Manages Pharmacy Cost Updates
- Orders medication carts or supplies when needed. Facilities shipping of items upon request.
- Adds any NDCs to system related to Pharmacy Backup utilization.
- Generates reports to find missing medication images, then creates file at ATP to execute and run images
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor degree preferred, high school diploma required
- 1 year(s) inventory experience, preferably in pharmaceutical field
- Demonstrated experience required
- Procurement and Inventory Control background
- Proficiency in desktop analytics, with emphasis on Microsoft Excel
- Exhibits meticulous work ethic and ambition to preserve quality control
- Exhibits professional demeanor and ability to work well with others; incorporates GRx core values into daily work
- Exhibits strong organizational skills
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical medication and supplies
