  • Position Summary
    • The Credit Specialist is responsible for analyzing and resolving a ll credit balances before a refund or adjudication is considered and/or processed.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Education
      • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Credentials
      • None
  • Physical Demands
    • Stand and/or walk frequently. Sit frequently.
    • No lift and/or carry.
    • No push and/or pull.
    • Visual acuity and manual dexterity within normal limits.
    • Bend, stoop, and crouch occasionally.
    • Reach floor to overhead occasionally.
    • Computer use frequently.
  • Essential Functions
    • Responsible for all patient and insurance credit balances;
    • Consistently works to ensure all credit balances are handled in a timely manner;
    • Able to determine why an account has a credit balance with little or no supervision;
    • Analyzes the account for posting errors before considering refund/adjudication;
    • Searches for other related accounts before refunding private pay credit balances
    • Understands managed care contracts, governmental fee schedules and other applicable contractual adjustments;
    • Ensures timely processing for credit balances, and posting of appropriate coding for reporting purposes to identifying root cause of credit(s);
    • Monitors and reports up to management any trends that are identified;
    • Documents accounts accordingly for daily productivity reporting;
    • Additional duties as assigned.
