Job Description
Construction Site Supervisor
Reports Directly to: Construction Manager
Basic Functions: 1) Provide oversight and supervision for GLHFH construction sites as directed by the Construction Manager; 2) ensure that the planned construction activities are carried out, the sites are prepared for construction activity, and that volunteers are being utilized appropriately; 3) provide construction skills and expertise where needed either through training and leading of volunteers or through actual hands on labor; 4) coordinate with homebuyers for sweat equity assignments and in making choices as appropriate to their specific house; and 5) communicate and coordinate with the Construction Manager regarding problems, needs and progress with site locations.
Educational Requirements:
· High School Diploma
Physical Abilities:
· Requires ability to perform work consistent with residential construction
· Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a consistent basis
· Must be able to walk, stand, squat, climb, bend on a regular basis
Required Abilities:
· Must possess Virginia driver’s license, and driving record must be in good standing
· Must have wide-range of residential construction knowledge, skill and experience
· Ability to patiently work with and train volunteer construction laborers
· Ability to plan construction site activities to effectively utilize volunteers
· Ability to effectively organize and plan construction activity around “special event construction projects”
· Ability to efficiently respond to goals and objectives set forth by the Construction Manager
· Knowledge, skill and abilities relative to building codes, zoning ordinances and general construction and building regulations
· Ability to communicate and work effectively with unskilled volunteers
· Ability to effectively manage people
· Flexibility to change plans with little notice, maintain a sense of humor
· Understand and embrace the organization’s mission
Schedule, Wages and Benefits:
· Salary commensurate with experience
· Tuesday through Saturday
· Saturdays off is very limited because of volunteer scheduling

Principal Responsibilities:
Construction
· Plan and ensure building site readiness each day per schedule in coordination with Construction Manager
· Maintain site safety and cleanliness
·
Maintain GLHFH storage trailers and warehouse in an orderly, clean and secure manner
· Procure and maintain construction materials
· Maintain vehicles and other equipment
· Distribute construction material, tools and equipment to volunteers as needed on a daily basis
· Communicate deficient materials inventory to Construction Manager
· Participate in GLHFH Construction Committee meetings, as needed
· Principle point of contact for warranty/callback issues
o Make the initial follow-up visit
o Conducting and/or scheduling repair work
o Reporting progress of repair work to the Construction Manager
· Assist in homeowner maintenance and construction classes/workshops
o In Development of classes
o In conducting the classes
· Maintain truck and equipment maintenance logs
o Scheduling of repairs and maintenance
o Walk-around inspections
o Includes: truck(s); trailer(s); power equipment; and power tools
· Participate in weekly meeting with the Volunteer Coordinator
· Participate in special projects, including the development of a Safety Program
· Participate in morning safety meetings
· Act as the onsite Safety Officer/Competent Person
· Assist in supply/equipment logistics/materials ordering
· Assist in confirmation of estimated quantities/quantity takeoff auditing
· Participate in necessary continuing education as assigned
· Red Cross First Aid/CPR Training
· Participate in construction committee meetings as a member of the committee
· Assist/maintain/update construction schedule and reports
· Lot inventory- coordinate lot maintenance/routine inspections
· Maintain work-day trailer and tool management/organization
· Professional development activities/training as necessary
Site and Volunteer Management
· Develop and implement a strategy for actively engaging, and managing volunteers
· Organize homeowner applicants and volunteers into appropriate work groups per the daily need of the construction site
· Make work assignment for individuals or groups
· Monitor construction site for safety issues and needs of volunteers. Take appropriate action regarding safety violations and report to Construction Manager
· Make sure that all volunteers on site have signed liability waivers and are wearing name tags
· Assist and/or train homeowner applicants and volunteers in construction work as necessary
· Submit volunteer needs per schedule developed in coordination with the Construction Manager
· Provide information to Construction Manager and Family Services Manager regarding any issues related to homeowner willingness to partner or hours relative to GLHFH criteria
· Responsible for volunteer sign-in/sign-out
· Email/call notifications to crew, volunteers, and family partners
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $42,000.00 - $47,000.00 per year
