The Procurement and Supplier Development Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and execution of strategies associated with assigned commodity, reducing TCO (total cost of ownership), managing supplier relationships, development and implementation of sourcing strategies, negotiating pricing, implementing and administering contracts, understanding markets, and forecasting pricing trends.

This role will also be responsible for performing Supplier Process Assessments and audits, administer the APQP process, hold supplier(s) accountable to our Quality Manual, develop implement supplier partner KPI/scorecard and implement actions to improve hold suppliers accountable to perform.

What you’ll do:
  • Reduce TCO (total cost of ownership) and working capital goals through cross-functional collaboration for assigned direct material commodities.
  • Develop a sourcing strategy for each assigned commodity that incorporates customer requirements, product requirements, market conditions, business risk, and supplier capabilities.
  • Communicate on a continuous basis with internal customers to understand business objectives, expectations, and specific requirements.
  • Serve as an internal resource regarding supplier new products, capabilities, technologies, and sourcing process.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of market conditions, trends, sources of supply and supplier capabilities for materials, equipment, and services within assigned commodities.
  • Lead sourcing negotiations with all levels of supplier contacts to establish terms of contracts, memorandum of understanding, and schedule agreements.
  • Develop, maintain, and strengthen long-term supplier relationships.
  • Act as a business partner with the operations team, providing insight and advice on procurement processes, supplier performance, and cost management.
Supplier Quality Development Responsibilities:
  • Manage supplier performance and use competitive criteria for supplier development and awarding business when applicable.
  • Support supplier development through training, mentoring, and collaboration to improve supplier performance and quality.
  • Conducting vendor assessment and supplier surveillance audits.
  • Ensuring that PPAPs are reviewed and approved in a timely manner.
  • Raising reject notes and requesting 8D reports from the supplier.
  •  Supporting supplier root cause analysis and corrective action planning, as required\Verifying implementation and effectiveness of supplier correction actions.
  • Collating and evaluating supplier quality data to identify process improvement opportunities within the supply chain.
  • Reporting internally on supplier quality performance.

What We Need from You:
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business or related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Progressive experience in commodity management and strategic sourcing: 3 years, level I; or 5 plus years with preferred focus in sourcing Outside Services (Machining, Painting, & Heat Treating) and Supplier Quality Development activities
  • Demonstrated experience in: negotiations, forecasting, working with various levels of management, understanding commodity markets, partnering with engineers, and working with and developing international vendors
  • Action oriented with ability to deliver results that make significant progress on strategic initiatives
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite
