Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for properly assembling and shipping customer orders by packaging and processing daily shipments using GIS’s computer system. This position will also inspect all components prior to assembly for any defects and damage and the inspection of completed sub-assemblies both visually and manually.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs assembly from provided assembly prints and instructions.
• Uses hand tools and small power tools to assemble unit.
• Tests and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet product specifications.
• Prepares production and quality reports as needed.
• Inspects all components prior to assembly for any defects and damage. Inspection of completed sub-assemblies both visually and manually.
• Scan and use Netsuite/RF Smart systems
• Assists in the packaging area as needed.
• Uses judgment and independent thinking to assure safe, accurate completion of assignments while meeting quality standards.
• Works as part of a team to ensure production and quality goals are achieved.
• Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Operate forklifts and other company vehicles following approved training and certification.
• Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on machines as required.
• Clean and maintain work area (5S).
• Perform back-up when other coworkers are not present.
• Provide on-the-job training (OJT) to new employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Regular and reliable attendance is required for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
• Ability to obtain fork-lift training if necessary.
• Basic computer skills including MS Word with QuickBooks being a plus.
• Manual dexterity required for operating hand tools, equipment, and machinery.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Preferred

• Previous demonstrated experience in shipping and receiving, warehouse, assembly, production, or manufacturing.
• Experience reading blueprint.

Supervision is provided by KAP Supervisor; position requires ability to perform with minimal supervision.

Working conditions are fast paced and highly variable. Duties are generally performed in an office or warehouse. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to use tools, controls, and climb or balance, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, and walk and move about the facility while performing the duties of this job.  Must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
