The Clinical Director of Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) is a member of the My Clinics Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and has the primary responsibility of ensuring that clinical staff have the essential clinical support and resources to treat patients. The Clinical Director supervises and directs clinical aspects of health care operations, from staff development to quality and patient satisfaction, developing clinical policies and goals, communicating with staff about recommended process improvements, and working toward a common vision. The goal is to ensure that patients receive comprehensive, personalized, and effective care. The Clinical Director oversees RHC clinical staff including onboarding of new employees, training existing employees, monitoring performance, and taking appropriate action to produce desired results. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Collaborates with RHC Executive Leadership Team members to develop policies, procedures and training for effective RHC operations.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and formulates and implements changes to improve clinic and employee performance.
  • Ensures that the RHCs operate according to federal and state guidelines and contributes to GCGHs mission and goals of client satisfaction, quality of care, and productivity.
  • Ensures approved policies and procedures are followed by clinical staff and initiates any changes or corrections to policies as needed.
  • Handles patient questions, concerns and complaints in a professional manner.
  • Maintains a safe and secure environment for patients and families.
  • Maintains good working relationships and effective communication both within the clinic and with departments.
  • Acts as a back-up for the Executive Director in the event of their absence.
  • Assesses and recommends improvements in EMR processes to ensure efficient and effective documentation and tracking of financial and quality data.
  • Completes chart audits of clinical staff.
  • Completes pre-employment screening of all clinical applicants prior to hire.
  • Assesses educational needs of clinical staff and works with the GCGH Education department in developing or securing appropriate outside resources to meet identified needs.
  • Collaborates on disaster and rapid response drills.
  • Participates in recruitment, interviews, selection, corrective action and evaluation process for directly supervised staff and other key positions.
  • Ensures compliance with Rural Health Clinic regulations.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team, strategizes the organization’s short-range and long-range program goals, particularly in organizing and planning.
  • Serves as a leader, representative and spokesperson for the organization, to the greater community.
  • Supervises orientation, training, and development of the clinical staff to ensure provision of the highest level of care to clinic patients.
  • Responsible for completion of clinical staff competencies.
  • Resolves office issues and keeps the lines of communication open with staff to ensure high employee morale and a professional atmosphere.
  • Available to staff to answer questions and respond to emergencies.
  • Makes regular rounds to all My Clinics locations.
  • Participates in administrative call.
  • Handles patient questions, concerns and complaints in a professional manner.
  • Maintains a safe and secure environment for patients and families.
  • Maintains good working relationships and effective communication both within the clinic and with departments.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
  • Exercises discretion and sound judgment in resolving clinic issues.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Complies with all organizational policies and codes of conduct.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
  • Treats staff, physicians, visitors and patients with dignity and respect.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of safety and quality improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates clear ownership of workplace and patient safety.
  • Reports mistakes, near misses, adverse events and quality and safety concerns.
  • Protects patient confidentiality and abides by all HIPAA and privacy laws.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualification Requirements:

 

Education: Registered Nurse required; Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree preferred.

 

Licensure/Certification: Indiana registered nursing license in good standing required. Current CPR certification required.

 

Experience:  At least five (5) years relevant clinical experience required. Experience in management or supervisor role preferred. Must be able to utilize independent decision-making skills in a wide variety of situations. Knowledge of guidelines and requirements for applicable regulatory agencies, such as Joint Commission and OSHA. Personal computer skills required. Frequent contact with employees, physicians, customers, community individuals and volunteers. Must be self-motivated to complete work in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
