General Summary:
A successful Controls Engineer will collaborate with the sales, engineering and production teams to define and implement control strategies for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment. As they progress they will develop strong technical knowledge in electromechancial and electrical systems, sequential programming and HVAC systems.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop new sequences alongside other controls engineers using block, structured text, and ladder logic programming methods in a shared environment through documenting, testing and reviewing code changes.
- Work with other departments in a cross-functional team to scope, develop and test program changes for new product development and existing product enhancements.
- Support the prototyping and testing of new designs, including the interpretation of test results.
- Support transitions from product design into production, including any necessary testing, training and automation.
- Assist the technical support team to be the "Easiest Company to do Business With".
- Assist in the identification of optimal controls strategies for product applications.
- Evaluate components for quality, reliability and performance and make recommendations to engineering and purchasing teams.
- Participate in value engineering and continuous improvement projects to improve designs and processes.
- Provide content for user instruction manuals and equipment installation documents.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to prioritize and implement corrective actions and process improvements.
Job Qualifications:
- Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regular four-year college program in an engineering discipline.
- Between 0-3 years of relevant work experience is required.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in accordance with predetermined completion dates.
- Experience with programming or programmable microcontrollers is a plus.
- Experience with building management system protocols such as BACnet, LonTalk, and Modbus is a plus.
- Microsoft Office Suite experience is required.
- HVAC experience or education is a plus.
