The Impact You Will Make:
Grubhub is looking for a Director of Performance Marketing to drive growth and continuous improvement of our digital marketing channels. Reporting to the Vice President of Diner Acquisition, the director will be an expert on media mix, channel optimizations, data management, and attribution. You will be responsible for optimizing media performance by developing and executing a roadmap that drives incremental diner growth.
The Performance Marketing Manager will lead and mentor a high-performing team to develop and execute comprehensive digital media strategies across various channels, including Paid Search, Paid Social, Affiliate, Display, and App Install Campaigns. This role involves overseeing budget management, channel forecasting, and rapid strategy adjustments based on performance insights. This role will collaborate with brand and creative teams to create cohesive campaigns and optimize performance through rigorous testing and analysis. Additionally, the role requires improving coordination with cross-functional teams, testing emerging channels, and providing detailed performance insights to ensure effective investment strategies and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities:
- Team leadership: Manage and mentor a high-performing Performance Marketing team across various experience levels to achieve business results.
- Strategy development: Define and orchestrate end-to-end digital media strategy, including audience targeting, planning, and execution.
- Media planning: Lead the media planning process across digital marketing channels.
- Budget and forecasting: Maintain and monitor budget pacing and key metrics for channels such as Paid Search, Paid Social, Affiliate, Display, Video, and App Install Campaigns. Establish channel forecasts and budget recommendations, quickly adjusting tactics and strategies based on learnings and opportunities.
- Testing and optimization: Develop and implement testing strategies to improve KPIs through A/B testing, incrementality testing, audience segmentation, ad placements, and retargeting. Understand and optimize marketing campaign performance, developing a testing agenda to ensure optimal investment strategy. Test emerging channels.
- Collaboration and process improvement: Partner with the brand and creative teams to develop cohesive and comprehensive campaigns. Enhance coordination and resource planning across marketing teams and with cross-functional stakeholders in Product, Data, and Engineering.
- Performance analysis and insights: Provide insights and metrics on platform, placement, creative, and campaign performance, sharing best practices with partners. Work with analytics teams to design testing plans and measure the ongoing impact of media efforts.
What You Bring to the Table:
The ideal candidate will have 10 years of marketing and leadership experience. Additional qualifications include:
- Significant experience in acquisition or retention marketing
- Expert in media mix, above and below the line channels optimization and attribution, proven track results in top leading brands
- Strong financial and business acumen; critical thinker with strong analytical skills
- Experience developing integrated marketing strategies and integrating acquisition within broader digital marketing efforts
- Solid financial management and analysis skills. This position will advise on marketing budget allocation, and the successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to optimize spend based on performance
- Agency management experience; Exceptional collaboration skills with experience managing client/partner relationships internally and externally
- Track record of driving results and leading execution on cross-functional teams
- 4 years of leadership/management experience
- Proven track record in business planning and growth results for a top brand
- Strategic, analytical and creative thinker
- An entrepreneurial mindset with the rigor and discipline to build the business and creative competencies that will allow Grubhub to continue to stand out in the market.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, very resourceful, reliable, energetic, self-motivated and knows how to have fun
- Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.

NY Salary Range: $167,000-$251,000
The Base Pay component of our Total Rewards package is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to: job responsibilities, location, experience and, education/certifications. In addition to the pay component, this role may be eligible for equity and benefits as part of the Total Rewards package. The Total Rewards package will be determined at the time a contingent offer is made.
