Gruner Stucky Ltd is an international engineering company, member of the Gruner Group, specialized in the field of water and energy, buildings, and infrastructure. Gruner Stucky has designed and supervised more than a hundred hydroelectric installations all over the world, such as dams, hydropower plants, substations and transmission lines, and water supplies.
To support the development and the growth of the Underground Space Department, we are hiring motivated engineers to be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary company already working on some of the most important and challenge international civil projects.
Job Description
The main task as a member of the Business Unit Hydropower, Dams, is to lead projects in Switzerland and worldwide:
- Managing of challenging projects in the field of hydropower and tunneling
- Managing the design of important projects, from feasibility through to the detailed design and construction phase
- Preparing design and technical documents (for example Geological Baseline Reports, Design Criteria, Detailed Design reports and calculations, Project Specifications, Methods Statements etc.)
- Coordination of design works of interdisciplinary teams at several locations
- Designing all the aspects of tunneling and/or geotechnical projects (for example temporary supports and permanent structures for tunnels and portals, excavations supports, grouting curtains or soil improvements solutions, support walls and similar works)
- Effectively leading the draftsmen team and checking the drawings
- Collaboration and negotiation with owners, authorities and contractors as well as (JV) partners and subconsultants and freelancers
- Willing to travel for short missions abroad, for site visits or meetings

Qualifications
- Excitement for and friends of hydropower and tunnelling
- University degree in Civil/Structural or Geotechnical/Tunnel Engineering (MSc or equivalent)
- Experience in the design and execution of tunneling or geotechnical works
- Knowledge of NATM/SEM/TBM excavation techniques and/or geotechnical works;
- Numerical competences with common software for tunneling and/or geotechnical engineering (Plaxis, Flac etc.)
- Energetic, resilient, and proactive approach to the work, able to work also in strict timelines
- Good verbal & written communication skills in German and English, a basic knowledge of French would be an advantage
