JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Wait Person STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Dining Room Manager

PRIMARY PURPOSE AND JOB FUNCTION
A Wait Person is responsible for all aspects of table service in the Dining Room for luxury Senior Citizen home.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Properly sets tables and maintains wait stations in a neat, and sanitary order.

2. Takes orders and provides quality customer service both graciously and courteously.

3. Clears dishes from tables during and after meal service.

4. Communicates effectively any and all menu selections, specials, and resident requests.

5. Answers questions about menu items.

6. Maintains a high level of customer service for residents and their guests.

7. Maintains high standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.

8. Abides by all established policies, procedures, and rules.

OTHER FUNCTIONS
1. Maintains safe and sanitary conditions in wait stations and dining rooms.

2. Completes all assigned cleaning tasks.

3. Assists with dishwashing and distribution of clean dishes if needed.

4. Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.

5. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by Dining Room Manager.

6. Assists with set up and break down of all functions.

7. Room Service when requested.

QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS
Education: Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively.

Experience: Experience waiting tables in a hotel, restaurant, club, or fining dining establishment preferred; will train.

Complexity: Ability to interpret and explain menu, refer or answer questions, coordinates meal service process, and understand requests.

Supervision: Under the direct supervision of the Dining Room Manager.

Other Contact: Constant contact with residents and guests. Contact requires the ability to communicate in English, both written and verbal, and a cooperative and courteous attitude despite simultaneous tasks.

Errors: Errors could result in service delays and resident dissatisfaction. Must work accurately.

Confidentiality: May be exposed to confidential information whose disclosure would be contrary to the best interest of the community and professional ethics.

Sensory Demands: Ability to maintain a cooperative and courteous attitude despite simultaneous tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands: Position requires the ability to perform complex tasks that require gross and fine motor skills. Must have the ability to lift 25 pounds. Demonstrate physical dexterity in moving, bending, stooping, and pulling. Able to withstand walking or standing for long periods of time. Requires ability to use both hands and arms simultaneously.

Working Conditions: Works inside with exposure to noise, moisture, heat, cold, odors, kitchen equipment, chemicals, etc.

Supervisory Scope: None.

Travel: Position does not require off-property travel.

Equipment: Various kitchen equipment.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $15.00 per hour
