What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Technician position at Gulf Coast Yacht Service, Inc.?
Gulf Coast Yacht Service Inc. is currently seeking a candidate to join our team. The Fleet Technician’s primary duty is to perform scheduled systems check sheets, perform mechanical preventative maintenance, services, troubleshoot and execute repairs as well as identify issues.
The candidate must have a marine based background in the operation of vessels both topside and below deck, be detail oriented and be versed in terminology and be able to effectively translate and explain the process from identification to execution. Must be able to effectively complete all work and purchase orders following GCYS guidelines. Candidate must have own tools, show strong mechanical aptitude as well as the drive to complete tasks independently in a mobile environment.
GCYS standard operating hours are Monday through Friday 7:30-4:00 as well as a rotated on call schedule. All new hires are subject to a 90 day probationary period.
Position requires that the individual has/can:
-Work effectively with and in a team based environment.
-Work outside in all elements.
-Be able to effectively follow directions and established company polices and procedures
-Have a boating background / knowledge of terms and be able to properly handle lines and set fenders.
-Maintain established industry environment.
-Lift 50lbs
-Be able to follow marina and facility polices and procedures and represent GCYS in a professional manner.
-Be able to have excellent references and pass background check.
-Have reliable transportation.
-Be willing to learn and be self motivated.
-ABYC Certifications preferred.
-Must have valid license and clean driving record for use of company vehicles.
