Gulfstream Park, an esteemed billion-dollar hub for Thoroughbred horse racing, gaming, hospitality, and entertainment in South Florida, is currently undergoing a transformative evolution with the goal of providing a richer, more engaging, and thrilling customer experience. In collaboration with our parent company, 1/ST, we aim to expand our marketing impact in the Miami marketplace in a distinctive and differentiating manner. 1/ST, at its core, revolves around the Thoroughbred horse racing industry, proudly commanding an industry-leading 40% market share in the US Thoroughbred horse racing sector.
Nestled on 250 acres of prime South Florida real estate, we are in search of a VP of Marketing at Gulfstream Park. This individual will serve as a leader, guiding an experienced team through our marketing endeavors.
The ideal candidate possesses a proven track record in leading marketing professionals, has experience collaborating across departments, and ideally brings extensive expertise in large venue settings, spanning sports, casino/gaming, or entertainment. This candidate will embody an "art meets science" approach to marketing, meticulously analyzing data and analytics to propel foot traffic and revenue to our multifaceted venue.

Strategic Leadership:
- Demonstrate exceptional leadership by setting clear KPIs, mobilizing teams, and sharing wins across executive levels. Coach teams to success with a keen eye on fostering a collaborative culture.
Visible Leadership Presence:
- Oversee the execution of all marketing activities on-site, participating in major events and functions as needed.
Strategic Marketing:
- Develop and manage the strategic marketing plan while maintaining real-time control of the annual marketing budget.
Holistic Marketing Oversight:
- Direct internal teams and agency partners in executing the comprehensive marketing plan, spanning media buying, newsletters, wagering promotions, CRM, ticketing, digital media, social platforms, PR, content management, in-venue promotions, and events.
Change-Agent Creativity:
- Challenge existing processes and culture to streamline operations, improve customer experience, and drive operational efficiencies, cost savings, and revenue. Constantly seek opportunities for innovation.
Goal-Driven Accountability:
- Maintain unwavering accountability for all sales and marketing objectives. Operate with a KPI and revenue-centric mindset.
Creative Authority:
- Demonstrate design sophistication and creative expertise across web, email, social, print, and in-venue displays.

- Lead creative teams in crafting inspiring video and dynamic content that prompts action.

- Maintain strong relationships with partners, vendors, and agencies for optimal marketing solutions.

- Oversee the tech stack, extracting key data across platforms. Comfortable navigating various platforms.
Event Oversight:
- Develop an event strategy that caters to our core audiences in addition to driving new customers to the venue. Hands-on approach to ensuring event success and oversight of the team.
Community Relationship Builder:
- Act as a visible leader in the community, serving as a liaison between the property and local entities, including tourism boards, hotels, and lifestyle organizations.
Core Requirements:
- Bring a minimum of 10 years of VP or executive-level marketing experience.
- Possess strong business acumen with polished public speaking and presentation skills.
- Proven experience leading marketing teams in sports, entertainment, casino, or hospitality within large-scale destinations.
- Demonstrate leadership and team management skills.
- Excel in analytical, planning, and time management with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Deep experience in strategic planning, business and brand development, and a thorough understanding of advertising and strategic marketing.
- Digitally savvy with a strong social media following and awareness-building capability.
- Uphold the highest level of integrity, poise, tact, and diplomacy.
- Hands-on leadership role in a rapidly growing company; administrative self-sufficiency and proficiency in MS Office or related Google products.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce, Ticketmaster, Meltwater, DAM, content management platforms, and budget spreadsheets.
- Experience in a similar capacity within the South Florida market and marketing to Latin American audiences is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in English is required; Spanish is a plus.
- Flexible hours and ability to be present on weekends.
- Familiarity with a sports venue or large venue a plus.
