Position Title: Dyslexia InterventionistGrades: K-6Reports To: Elementary School PrincipalClosing: Until Filled Each teacher shall be under the general direction of the Superintendent of Schools, but immediately responsible to the principal for the carrying out of policies of the board as they relate to the functions of the school, the classroom, and immediate contact with pupils and immediate contact with the pupils and parents. The teachers specific responsibilities shall be: Train in early dyslexia intervention strategies including "Take Flight." Plan and provide instruction for students identified as needing dyslexia interventions. Create dyslexia reports after student assessments. Conference with teachers and parents about results of dyslexia assessments.
Serve as a liaison between parents and the school, general education and special education teachers,administration, program personnel, and the community. Assist and provide support and resources for teachers with students in their classrooms as theyattempt to identify and meet the needs of students with dyslexia. Attend 504 and Special Education conferences/meetings for students with dyslexia. Promote the welfare and safety of students and staff.
Collaboratively develop and implement a shared mission and vision. Create an environment of trust and respect. Establish a culture for ongoing instructional improvement. Establish clear procedures for teachers to gain access to instructional support.
Establish and maintain norms of behavior for professional interactions. Collaborate with teachers in the design of instructional units and lessons. Engage teachers in learning new instructional skills. Promote the use of the most effective and appropriate technologies to support teaching and learning.
Locate resources for teachers to support instructional improvement. Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness. Reflect on practice and participate in professional development to enhance professional learning. Prepare and submit reports.
Coordinate work with other instructional specialists. Participate in a professional community. Show professionalism, including integrity and confidentiality. Build and sustain positive and productive relationships with families, caregivers, and communitypartners.
Report to the proper authorities any cases of suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse. Report suspected bullying to building principal or designee as required by Arkansas law and districtpolicies. Adhere to all policies of the District. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
