GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is seeking a full-time attorney to support our Corporate Risk Management Department. As a member of GZA’s Corporate Risk Management Department, the successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will involve a variety of activities at the intersection of GZA’s business and risk management efforts.

- Work closely and cooperatively with the Corporate Director of Risk Management and the Corporate Insurance Director to help execute the responsibilities of GZA’s Corporate Risk Management Department.
- Work with Principals and Project Managers to review, and help negotiate individual project, master service, and subcontractor agreements, all in accordance with GZA’s policies for risk tolerance.
- Work cooperatively on legal matters with other corporate departments and personnel on an as-needed basis.
- Draft non-standard terms and conditions in agreements, such as non-compete and conflict of interest clauses.
- Research various topics related to contracts and provide advice to management.
- Assist with various Risk Management Department projects, such as reviewing/updating Risk Management Policies and Procedures.
- Help provide training to company employees on substantive contractual and other legal topics.
- Manage and execute the annual relicensing of GZA to do business in various jurisdictions.
- Support responses to professional liability or commercial insurance claims.
- Respond to subpoena requests.
- Attend and defend GZA at third party depositions.
- Manage the use of outside counsel, as required, and oversee litigation management strategies and the coordination of legal activities.
- Provide guidance with respect to corporate licensing, intellectual property, cybersecurity, and data privacy requirements.
- Research unique legal issues impacting the organization.
- Execute documents as Assistant Corporate Secretary.
Qualifications: :
- JD degree and license to practice law in any state in the US (required); MA law license preferred.
- Minimum of 5 – 10 years’ experience, ideally working with engineering or construction contracts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint .
- General knowledge of property and casualty insurance is desirable.
