H-CAP is seeking a Project Coordinator in Michigan to work with the H-CAP team on the development and implementation of a robust workforce development program and various organizational educational initiatives that support a labor-management partnership in the Michigan Nursing Home Industry. Travel within the state required. The position reports to H-CAP’s Senior Program Manager.

POSTION SUMMARY 

Reports to: Program Manager 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Build relationships and partnerships with the union, nursing home operators/employers, education institutions, state and city agencies, and community allies to build and implement a robust training, recruitment, and retention program in nursing homes across the state.
  • Support the development and implementation of a workforce development program in the nursing home industry. 
  • Identify and collaborate with community partners and state agencies to recruit community members to enter the long-term care sector. 
  • Lead a Member Program to support the development and implementation of grant programs.
  • Responsible for the management of workforce development and labor management programs that support the current and future demands of union, members, and employer partners in the long-term care industry.
  • Engage in partnership with stakeholders that help build the scope of programs.
  • Identify and gather needed information and data to understand the impact of programs. 
  • Participate in community conversations about healthcare, specifically long-term care, workforce.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in the healthcare industry regarding workforce development and training.
  • Ability to travel to various locations within the state and nationally when needed.
  • Perform other related duties, including supervisory, as assigned by Senior Program Manager.

Position-Related Skills and Experience:   

  • A minimum of 5 years of program leadership and educational design/delivery experience
  • Experience working in a union or labor-management environment
  • Experience with various database systems
  • Experience with workforce development and adult education programs
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Knowledge of post-secondary education system
  • Experience developing, facilitating and leading trainings
  • Knowledge of the nursing home industry
  • Experience shaping, developing, or implementing a training plans
  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry and its workforce needs
  • Experience with workforce development and adult education programs
  • Must be able to travel to program and meeting sites

 

COMPENSATION PACKAGE 

Salary: $55,000-$65,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is grant funded. H-CAP shall consider the following items when creating salary offers: 

  • Available funding
  • Local market conditions
  • Pay at other similar organizations 
  • Candidate’s prior salary and salary requests

The Executive Director will confer with the Executive Committee at the end of each year to determine the amount of funding available for annual increases. All salary decisions are made by the Executive Director with consultation from the Executive Committee. H-CAP does not pay annual bonuses.

  • 4 weeks accrued vacation per year (after 3 months of full-time work)

WORKPLACE PRACTICES AND POLICIES 

Classification: Full Time, Grant Funded, Exempt,  At Will  

Location: Remote with travel expectations. Must be in Northern Michigan. This position includes areas but are not limited to: Petosky, Gaylord, Hillman, Alpena, Sutton Bay, Garfield Twp., Traverse City, Midland and Mount Pleasant. 

 

Interviews for this position will be conducted via Zoom.  


Travel Requirements: Employees may be asked to attend meetings and/or events that will require travel as part of their job duties. H-CAP holds at least 1 weeklong conference per year and other multi-day meetings that are mandatory for all staff. This position will require travel to various nursing home facilities across the state.  

Work Hours: H-CAP employees are expected to be available during normal business hours (e.g., 9:00am to 5:00pm) in their time zone. 

Remote Work and Equipment: Employees must provide a workplace that has sufficient space for work and allows for only minimal disruptions. H-CAP will provide a phone, laptop, mouse, keyboard, external monitor, and devices to connect those items. H-CAP will not provide furniture. Employees may elect to use their own phone and will receive a $50/month stipend. Employees must have a data plan sufficient for the employee to conduct regular business using the phone. Employees must also have access to minimum acceptable internet speed of at least 25MB download speed and 10MB upload speed.  

Sole Employer and Conflicts of Interest 

Full time employees are hired and continue in H-CAP’s employ with the understanding that H-CAP is the employee’s sole employer, and that other employment is strictly prohibited. No employee shall be affiliated with any provider of goods or services to H-CAP in any manner that conflicts with the interests of H-CAP.
