JOB SUMMARY:  The Merchandise Manager will be responsible for the development and execution of the Texas Stars merchandise strategy through strong buying, planning and placement skills. The Merchandise Manager will manage merchandising line and marketing strategies in order to maximize profitability, control sales, margins, and inventory turns, along with buying product assortments to support collective goals. The Merchandise Manager is also responsible for advancing, executing, and settling 3rd party shows at H-E-B Center. This position reports to the COO and General Manager. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
  • Execute a strategic merchandising plan for the Texas Stars with a focus on profitability, product diversity, price point, and brand consistency 
  • Meet established sales, margin, per caps, and shrink goals 
  • Develop seasonal plans, performance targets and policies 
  • Be able to integrate brand plans and anticipate key marketplace trends and vulnerabilities, in addition to developing recommendations and executing high-impact opportunities 
  • Continuously edit and monitor product offering to avoid duplication across categories and establish strategies for price/value relationships across platforms 
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise all part-time merchandising staff for both Texas Stars and H-E-B Center 3rd party events 
  • Provide customer service and sales during Texas Stars and H-E-B Center events 
  • Utilize point-of-sale management database to administer product line, monitor inventory levels, and produce sales reporting; will be responsible to maintain the database at operating efficiency 
  • Serve as primary retail point-of-contact for third party events, coordinating and settling with tour representatives while maintaining the integrity of third party inventory

  • Strong financial skills and knowledge, including the ability to use factual data to make decisions and ensure profitability 
  • High-level understanding of the industry, consumer needs and the retail landscape 
  • Experience in creating profitable and visually compelling product line 
  • Ability to connect observations of trends, colors, materials, price competitiveness and fashion to determine the right product for the targeted consumer 

 REQUIREMENTS: 
  • 2 years previous experience in product line development and purchasing 
  • Required computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel. Preferred skills: Photoshop, Point-of-Sale Management 
  • Employees must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required for Texas Stars hockey games and other H-E-B Center events (concerts, family shows, and more)

Physical Demands and Working Environment 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to an office environment, with noise levels usually moderate.
