Business Development Manager (H&K Smart Fence)
H&K Smart Fence is seeking a full-time Business Development Manager to further develop and implement H&K’s sales plan targeting regional and national retail and online distributor outlets with its Starkline® brand of electric fence products, as well as a wide variety of private label offerings in electric fence and welded metal and plastic agricultural products. The BDM will initially also service current accounts including a number of regional farm and ranch stores, online distributors, and major OEM customers.
This is a mainly office-based position in our downtown Des Moines headquarters, with travel regionally and nationally for trade shows and customer visits. Compensation consists of salary plus commissions and bonuses, a competitive insurance package, generous PTO, and retirement package after the first year. Main responsibilities:
· Identify and attract strategic customers that offer the greatest growth opportunity and cultivate existing relationships to drive greater sales growth;
· Develop and conduct effective sales presentations;
· Respond productively to existing customer requests in a timely, professional manner and pro-actively maintain customer relationships to help identify customer needs;
· Work closely with China-based staff to coordinate product sourcing and pricing;
· Actively communicate and collaborate with H&K Smart Fence team members to drive further development of the company’s brand and to most efficiently implement sales plan;
· Utilize ERP, CRM and Office software to track progress and for customer and order management;
· Attend trade shows and conduct effective and timely follow-up with leads.
· Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and competitors
Required Qualifications:
· Proven experience in business development, sales or related field;
· Experience developing and maintaining relationships with major retail and distributor customers;
· Team player with the ability to plan and implement sales strategy with limited supervision;
· Ability to thrive in a competitive, goal-driven environment;
· Ability to prioritize responsibilities and to operate with changing priorities;
· Positivity in representing an organization or company to a diverse customer base;
· Proficiency in CRM software. ERP and other sales platforms preferred.
Preferred qualities:
· Experience with agricultural, fencing and/or garden hardware product lines;
· Experience working with foreign manufacturers and their representatives;
· Excitement in engaging new (and old) technologies;
