Construction Supervisor
Position Type: Full-time
Reports to: Finance & Construction Director
Supervises: construction volunteers and subcontractors
Hours/Week: 40hr/week Tuesday-Saturday – Salaried (with an ability to work with a flexible schedule)
Position Summary: The Construction Supervisor will oversee the completion of new and or recycled construction projects in Moore and Richmond Counties, as well as other department tasks, as needed. They serve as the face of Habitat on our build sites, requiring a strong construction skill set as well as excellent interpersonal skills and ability to lead volunteers.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all components of assigned build projects including permitting, construction, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and punch lists
- Communicate effectively with staff to ensure all construction and ancillary objectives are met
- Communicates on an ongoing basis with the Construction Manager and /or Operations Director to report progress/problems that may arise on all construction and repair sites
- Creates and maintains/updates the construction schedule as it pertains to assigned builds
- Assures that Habitat construction sites are in accordance with approved drawings and county/city/state codes and adheres to Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills mission
- Code all bills for assigned builds in accordance with the overall project and affiliate budget
- Ensures all construction vehicles, equipment and materials are maintained, inspected, and insured annually
- Trains other staff and volunteers about construction procedures and appropriate safety precaution measures
- Seek ways to improve building practices and finds material cost savings opportunities
- Improve construction processes with the goal of going greener, recycling, and reducing waste
- Assist in coordination and upkeep of the construction warehouse
- Acts as a role model, spokesperson and positive leader for Habitat’s mission
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Required Skills/Experience/Physical Requirements:
- 2-3 years of experience in construction /General Contractors license/ability to acquire
- College degree in a related field and/or equivalent life experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Position may include strenuous activity with the ability to lift 50lbs, requiring the ability to sit, walk, carry, push, pull, climb and bend.
- Exposure to temperature extremes, loud noises, and other adverse working conditions associated with outdoor work
