Wages & Benefits
$60,000 - $65,000 annual salary; 11 Paid Holidays and accrued paid time off; company-paid medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, and short-term and long-term disability; company-sponsored retirement plan with automatic enrollment, a 10% employer contribution after 1 year of service, immediate vesting, and 100% employer matching on the first 5% of employee contributions; paid parental leave for eligible employees.
A Typical Day in the Life…
A typical day as Hallie Q. Brown’s Grants Manager provides an opportunity to organize and implement HQB’s annual grant development goals to ensure the agency secures the necessary resources to meet (and grow) the annual revenue targets. This position will work closely with HQB’s leadership team and a board resource development committee to ensure ongoing progress with the agency’s operating and developmental needs. Responsibilities will include the following:
Funding Proposals
- Serving as the lead grant writer for government (primarily city, county, and state) agencies to secure funding to include 30-50 proposals annually.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for contracted grant writer(s) as needed.
- Creating proposal submission strategy and presenting to leadership for approval.
- Completing annual reports in conjunction with the leadership team.
- Meeting a specified budget of funds to secure, to be communicated annually.
Grant Development Documentation
- Continually reviewing and monitoring foundation and government websites and building relevant sources/deadlines into HQB’s grant development goals and databases.
- Establishing and continually improving grant development protocols that hold all parties accountable to deadlines and expectations.
- Developing metrics and tracking to ensure reliable data.
- Managing grant financial compliance for any necessary sources.
Civic Engagement/Public Policy/Other
- Supporting HQB’s agency-wide civic engagement and public policy values and initiatives.
- Participating in organization-wide events and initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
- You hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or have demonstrably equivalent knowledge gained through alternative courses of study and life experience.
- It is preferable that you have 5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in non-profit grant writing and fundraising.
- You have previous experience managing budgets and a proven track record of spending within budget.
- You have an interest in the human services nonprofit sector; experience working in a nonprofit setting preferred.
- Rondo community knowledge desired.
- You demonstrate a willingness to learn a variety of tasks.
- You possess excellent communication skills, a thorough understanding of nonprofit practices, a serious work ethic, and a desire to work in a team-orientated environment.
- You have the ability to work independently, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
- You understand the importance of customer service and being professional.
- You have knowledge of and experience with diverse groups of people of lower socioeconomic conditions.
- You are skilled in conflict management.
- You are competent in MS Office: Word, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- You have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- You have the ability to maintain a good working relationship with all co-workers and the public.
- You have a valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet Hallie Q. Brown’s driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit (not applicable for new hires living out of state).
