Director of Portfolio Planning and Delivery – Remote
Lead the newly established delivery organization comprised of 5-10 delivery and Sr. Delivery Managers and serve as subject matter expert on agile methods for delivery best practices
- Partner with ePMO on agile best practices & methodologies, onboard 200 individuals, subsequently drive adoption and ensure all processes are continuously improved.
- Deliver upon company digital priority initiatives - ensure that initiatives are sponsored, assessed, planned, prioritized, communicated, delivered, and supported to meet organizational goals within the estimated timeframe.
- Partner with Executives, Finance Product Management, Design, Engineering, Architecture and solutioning, and business partners to establish initiative level priorities, resource allocation, technology assessments, decision making, remove impediments and blockers, and general support for the product teams.
- Oversee, define, set, and measure against key performance indicators for digital projects and communicate based on stakeholder level.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
- Lead, coaches, grow, and support five- 10 delivery managers work on multiple cross functional initiatives and product specific initiatives in a DevOps structure
- Document, implement, communicate, execute, iterate, measure, and enforce Agile processes and procedures to support Portfolio and Delivery best practices
- Provide guidance and strategic direction to the governance function in support of continual process optimization and improvement
- Own and lead Portfolio Planning and Delivery initiatives in the digital space such as training, tools, community of practice to support an Agile organization.
- Develop accountability processes to ensure leaders and their teams are executing on key portfolio priorities
- Ensure initiatives align with strategic plans and desired outcomes
- Provide leadership updates at an initiative level to track progress against goals and milestones
- Collaborate across multiple functional areas to provide oversight and guidance on key initiatives
- Drive continuous improvement in the Delivery space by utilizing the community of practice, stakeholder feedback, and metrics that identify areas of opportunity or change.
- Partner with ePMO to execute Agile governance processes and decisions are applied consistently
- Create and establish key performance indicators at the initiative, feature, epic, and Product team levels
- Act as escalation for cross functional team risks, blockers, and dependencies to meet key initiative millstones
- Oversee and facilitate key Delivery activities such as: Daily standup, grooming/refinement, planning, retro, Scrum of Scrums, release planning, deployment planning, story mapping, t-shirt sizing, product team reporting, and community of practice.
- Oversee and facilitate key Portfolio Planning activities such as: intake, initiative impact assessment, requirements review, initiative, feature, and epic t-shirt sizing, initiative level reporting to leadership, dependency mapping, initiative resource allocation, prioritization exercises, ensure accurate and timely finance reporting capex vs opex, and realistic milestone setting.
- Partner with executive leadership and finance to develop and monitor the portfolio budget and cost.
- Drive and communicate portfolio and agile related change management activities.
- Provide visibility into team resource and skillset allocations, constraints, and gaps to stakeholders to effectively manage successful portfolio delivery.
- Portfolio strategy development supported by quantitative and qualitative research and data
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
The following is required to be considered for this role:
- Prior experience leading teams and managing people
- Minimum of 7 years of program/project experience in a fast-paced environment with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy
- Bachelor’s degree or minimum of 10 years of professional experience in one or more of the following information technology areas: service management, software development/engineering, quality, program/project management, product delivery, application support, process governance and execution, release, and deployment management
- Proven success in managing and delivering cross functional initiatives within committed timeframe and budget
- Experience with budget, forecasting, resource management, and capacity planning
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and other related frameworks
- Strategic: Able to see and articulate the big picture, and how the details fit into place
- Tactical: Able to break large problems into smaller components for execution and follow-through
- Decisive: Have the experience and willingness to make tough decisions under pressure
- High emotional intelligence and organizational savvy
- PMP Certification or thorough knowledge and demonstrated execution of project management methodology
- Self-motivated, with the ability to balance multiple initiatives under minimal to no supervision
