Position Summary: Packers are responsible for packing and boxing beef, pork, lamb, veal, and seafood products accurately with good appearance, as well as meeting customer specifications. Essential Functions: Packs products in an accurate and timely manner. Follows company standardized pack specifications along with any customer specified deviations as communicated through special instructions via work orders/cut tickets. Accurately reads and comprehends all customer specific special instructions. Performs Quality Control checks and communicates with supervisors and manager any defects. Inspects meat/ products for defects, bruises or blemishes. Obtains and distribute products to appropriate pack lines. Weighs meats and tag containers for weight and contents. Reduces processing costs by reducing the amount of repacks or empty pockets. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Must have ability to read, write and communicate in English. Must be able to work independently or within a team environment. Solves routine problems of limited scope and complexity following established policies and procedures. Employees in all warehouse positions must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals such as bells, alarms, and horns that are used to warn employees of the start-up, movement, or approach of equipment (including forklifts, turrets, overhead cranes, conveyors, trucks, and other equipment operated inside or outside the warehouse), mechanical abnormalities, and similar risk situations during warehouse operations. Must have working knowledge of production equipment. Must be able to understand and follow all Food Safety Guidelines and Occupational Safety Guidelines .
