ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION OPEN

ADULT EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR, STEPS TO SUCCESS PROGRAM

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field plus current Adult Education certification or attainable within first year of employment is required: Cert #107
  • Current or future completion of State of CT CCRS ELA training. (College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education, 101 & 102)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in the job market, along with knowledge of labor market statistics
  • Strong computer skills * Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings with a culturally diverse population
  • Knowledge of American Job Center services
  • Experience teaching in an adult education program is preferred
  • Bi-lingual applicant preferred
  • Must be prepared for a hybrid program on-site and/or distance learning
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain working relationships with employers to secure employment opportunities
  • Provide soft skills training, such as interview skills, corporate attire and professional etiquette, in both group and one-on-one settings
  • Prepare candidates for interview and entry into the workforce
  • Assist students in the use of resources and technology for job search activities
  • Connect students to internet job boards and resources
  • Participate in Adult Education Educator Evaluation

Hours: Tuesday and Thursday – 9:00 am – 12:00 p.m.

Instructional and planning time paid for each class taught This is a part time non-union school year position located at the Hamden Adult Education Learning Lab at the Keefe Community Center

Salary: Per negotiated HEA agreement

Fingerprinting required upon employment. (Current HPS teachers are exempt.)

Start Date: August 2021
