The Operations Department Data, Analytics, and Performance Team is responsible for producing quarterly performance track records and Asset Under Management (AUM) reports, providing performance analytics and investment statistics in response to RFPs (Request for Proposals) from prospective clients, handling ad-hoc requests from existing investors and senior management, creating multi-layered process and data controls, and creating creative solutions to data related problems. Our strong, knowledgeable team is actively involved in the firm’s business development initiatives and has regular communications with many departments including Investments, Compliance, Business Development, and Relationship Management. The Data Analyst role requires strong analytical and technical skills to help manage Hamilton Lane’s systems and data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Maintain a key focus on process management and quality control.
· Master tools of data analysis to answer complex questions based on a large data set.
· Balance the completion of assigned daily responsibilities, while meeting ad-hoc project request deliverables.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS; Education and/or Experience:
· BA/BS in related field (e.g., business/finance/engineering/information technology/mathematics/physical sciences)
· 0-2 plus years of work experience in an accounting/financial industry setting preferred
· Comfort and familiarity with large data sets, relational databases, reporting and query tools
· Aptitude for problem solving
· Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
· Must be proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
· Advanced experience in Excel is a plus (e.g., VBA, Macros)
· Proficiency with Microsoft Access a plus
· Must be proficient in R and SQL programming languages
· Must be detail oriented, organized, and possess good analytical skills
· Must be able to handle multiple assignments/initiatives
· Ability to operate in a high pressure environment
· Assist with other duties and special projects as needed
