What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at Hamlyn Williams?
We are currently partnering with a leading global law firm operating in over 30 countries all over the world and looking for a Staff Accountant to join their growing team.
This position is Hybrid out of the New York City Office.
Responsibilities
• Good understanding of the General Ledger and the Trial Balance.
• Ensure that proper general ledger coding is used by all office locations.
• Prior experience with bank reconciliations preferred.
• Good working knowledge of journal entries.
• General understanding of Occupancy-related transactions.
• Assist with the posting of fixed assets acquisitions in the fixed assets system and reconciling the balances to the general ledger.
• Responsible for cash management functions (daily cash reports, office funding).
• Assist in month-end close process, must be flexible during close.
• Ability to analyze incorrect postings on the general ledger.
• Assist in maintaining the Chart of Accounts.
• Assist with special projects and other related financial analysis.
• Collaborate with other Finance Department members to support overall department goals and objectives.
• Other responsibilities as they are assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting, good knowledge of the general ledger and journal entry transactions.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, good communication and interpersonal skills. Team-oriented individual works well with others.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft suite, especially Excel. Prior experience in Pivot Tables a plus. Knowledge of Accounting software with possible 3E experience.
