Well, Handex is currently seeking a highly motivated Staff Accountant to join our team. In this role, the Staff Accountant will report to our Controller and prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. Position will be hybrid and located in Winter Park, FL.
Handex Consulting & Remediation, LLC (Handex) is a full-service environmental company focused on providing professional environmental consulting, remediation, construction, emergency response, and sludge dewatering services in the United States. Founded in 1968, we have over 55 years of experience and have no intentions of slowing down!
What will be my responsibilities?
· Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
· Prepares monthly financial statements.
· Maintains general ledger.
· Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; handles accounts receivable collections.
· Verifies accounts payable to ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
· Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
· Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
· Coordinates with software vendors to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
· Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
What knowledge and experience do I need to be successful?
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field.
· 3 years of accounting and financial experience is required.
· Strong knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting a must.
· Understand and adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
· Proven ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Team player who is highly organized along with attention to detail.
· Familiarity and willingness to work in a deadline-oriented environment.
